Get out your Kadee coupler height gauge and determine which is/are in compliance - the engine or the cars. Then go from there to make the non-compliant equipment the same as the gauge. This will pay dividends in the long run.

Assuming, and this is ONLY an asumption, that your cars couplers are the correct height you might get some of those offset shank Kaydees that have the knuckle offset downward and install them on your GP-18. I have two of P2K's GP-9s, which is essentially the same body, and couplers on both ends matched a Kadee height guage with no adjustments needed. As darth9x9 says, get out your Kadee height guage.

Correct me if I am wrong, but Kadee does not offer couplers in N scale. Right?

The guy hasa an LL 'N' scale GP18. Does this engine have 'knuckle' couplers or the old Rapido 'hooks'? If you are using the old style couplers, it is a lost cause, as there seems to be no standards there. If you are using the Microtrains or Microtrains compatible couplers, they should line up. No matter, get a coupler height gause and verify where the problem really is....
