Limited to "only" 1000 photos now...

I have over 6300 photos in photobucket (all train-related), and apparently that's only 5% of what I'm allowed.

Yes, I have to pay for the service, but it's affordable (even on my fixed income) and easy to use.

I learned about that when my free photobucket account began using-up my monthly bandwidth allotment in two weeks or less. It took a little arm twisting to get photobucket to send a transcript of bandwidth useage, but they eventually did.

Monastery of LION ran on 100 Mb down and 10 Mb up. No problems (40 workstations or not) but recently more people are streaming video, movies, and TV sports. Just upgraded our account to 250/25 Mb.

Will sea if that helps next sunday.

I only have train related stuff on Flickr...

I need to railfan and model way more often to hit that limit.

Thanks Flickr, for informing me to do more with trains!

I learned about that when my free photobucket account began using-up my monthly bandwidth allotment in two weeks or less.  It took a little arm twisting to get photobucket to send a transcript of bandwidth useage, but they eventually did.

While I was aware of my own photo-posting activities in several forums, I was surprised to see that Google "bots" were harvesting more of my photos than all of the forum sites combined.

The way I understand that is that the photos are not taken from the hosting site,  (photobucket et al) but rather from where the photos were posted (various on-line forums, such as this one).

To deal with that, photobucket offered me an economical paid account which gave me unlimited bandwidth, and that's one of the reasons why I stayed with them through their recent upheavals.  While the account is now a bit more expensive than the former one, it's still well-within my reach.

Mysteriously there are no Google photos after July 29.  But there are those accidental out of focus pictures of nothing in my Google photos. Or, when you take 4 or 5 pictures of something, like trying to catch a smile on your granddaughter's face, all 5 will be in Google.  Obviously they came from my Iphone but they were never uploaded anywhere else.

I use the photos I have uploaded to my blog, but that won't last forever either...

Does anybody use google photos?

You won't be able to post them here.

Nor do I understand how Google works.  I have photos on Google, but I don't remember uploading some of them to Google.   In fact some of them I wouldn't have uploaded, but there they are.

Good thing I host my own :).

If you want off flickr (etc.) there's railimages / trainboard still (I think).  Or you can shoot me a PM ...

They got bought by smugmug not too long ago. I had used the site to share my Dad's photos with family. I told everyone to download what they wanted before it switches. Here we go again- how many broken links will be everywhere on forums.

Got an email that the free accounts will be limited to 1000 photos.  A subscription is $49.95/yr.

I don't have that many photos in my Flickr account and prefer Imgur.  Free doesn't last forever.
