Jarrell's Show Me something: November 2018
Posted by Harrison on Thursday, November 1, 2018 9:02 AM

Welcome to the November , 2018

"Jarrell's Show Me Something"

Thread

This is a place where forum members can post their photos featuring a view of a "requested" scene or object.

If you show the scene requested you can then make a request of your own or choose to stay with the current request. If you do not make a request, than the last one is still in effect.

Your photos should be of models only, not a "real-life" scene. After 24 hours, if the requested scene has not been posted, anyone is welcome to make a submission of their own choice of subject and then make the next request. It's all about having fun! Let's see those photos!

What Selector wrote in last month's thread should be included in the first post of the month and every month.  I did not know Jarrell, he was before my time.

Selector: " I don't hear from Jarrell Conley who proposed and who initiated this wonderful and long-lived thread at least a decade ago.  I haven't seen a post from him in about two years...perhaps I am mistaken?

"Unless someone knows better, it could be that we have seen his last contribution in text or in image here.  He taught me a lot about photography off line, and we corresponded via email for several years.  He has left a legacy here, and was widely respected for a number of reasons, not least because he was quite obviously a gentleman."

From what I can find, Jarrell Conley is alive and well, retired, and living in Macon Georgia.

jacon12 is Jarrell's screen name, and he last posted on May 19, 2017.

I think renaming this thread is a great idea, rather like Crandell, Jarrell also strikes me as a gentleman. Thank you for your detective work Rich.

Now, I did have a close look and am 99.9% sure, I meet Kevin’s criteria!

Who is Jerrell?

From last week's Show Me...

selector
Hi, Friends.  I essentially never get into this thread, a sad but truthful admission.  It's sad for two reasons: one, I don't have a layout worth imaging and cannot participate as I did perhaps eight years ago now.  And two, I don't hear from Jarrell Conley who proposed and who initiated this wonderful and long-lived thread at least a decade ago.  I haven't seen a post from him in about two years...perhaps I am mistaken? Unless someone knows better, it could be that we have seen his last contribution in text or in image here.  He taught me a lot about photography off line, and we corresponded via email for several years.  He has left a legacy here, and was widely respected for a number of reasons, not least because he was quite obviously a gentleman. With this in mind, I wonder how it would be received if we were to modify the thread title, much as we did for Jeffrey Wimberley, to reflect Jarrell's status, regard, and legacy to this forum.  Nothing lasts forever, not Jarrell, not this forum, and not much about the hobby except for maybe the mutual love of trains. It could be "Show Jarrell Something", or "Jarrell's Show Me Something.  Something more suitable? I offer this for your consideration, you who participate in this thread monthly, who enjoy it, and who would like to honour the fellow hobbyist who began it all so many years ago. -Crandell
