A fairly nice day here with a high of 4C but today is the last of the nice weather as we won't be above zero C by the end of the week.
I finally finished pumping and cleaning all the debris and sludge out of the pond. It isn't that big but leaves and dirt settles in it over the summer so I have to flush it out many times to get it clean for next year.
Dave, we went through about 125 lbs of shelled sunflower seeds in October which accounts for most of the cost. We don't use much black oil seed as the shells are toxic to plants but the shelled stuff runs about $60 for a 25 lb. bag. We also put out suet all year mainly for the woodpeckers and nuthatches but other birds also use it. We put the suet in small holes bored into a 4" diameter log section that is hung on a shepherds hook. The woodpeckers can easily cling to the log bark and feed on the suet. Now that the migrants have gone, I expect the seed consumption to drop off, assuming we don't get the Redpoles.
We are just about ready to take Robbie for a walk and then it is planting time in the back yard. We have a few small things to get in the ground and today is the last day weather will permit. We also have to plant some tulip bulbs but that doesn't take long as I have a special drill bit just for that purpose.

Gee, I missed my big Sunday breakfast yesterday!
Actually, Petra and i are quite involved in some relocation ideas, discussing how to facilitate such a move and - that´s the most important issue - how to deal with the fact of leaving family behind.
This is just like a ride on a roller coaster, with ups and downs every second. I am much more relaxed than Petra, who has difficulties leaving our son and her kin folks back in the Old Country. Lots of more talking is required, but also lots of more research. Last but certainly not least we have find answers to the pressing question how to supplement the rather dire pension I will get starting August next year. How does "The Apple Tree" sound to you? German Apfelkuchen in various shapes and tastes - trust me, you won´t taste anything like somewhere else!
These are just rough thoughts - bare bones that need a lot ofd flesh put onto them before we push forward.

I applied at a new upscale restaurant in Zachary today and got applications from 6 hotels in downtown Baton Rouge, tomorrow is fill out the applications, return them, then go to some restaurants downtown and up towards midtown (Government Street and Jefferson) and fill them out and return them.
So far I applied to Bistro Byronz at Americana in Zachary.
And I have applications for the Hilton, Courtyard by Mariott, Hampton by Hilton, Hotel Indigo (IHG), and Holiday Inn Express (also IHG) all of which are downtown.
I currently work at a Holiday Inn Express and Best Western, Holiday Inn is a International Hotels Group (IHG) brand so the Indigo or HIE downtown would be similar in policy as my current job.

Ed yep that is the one I wanted to get off. New plan is the drift pin I need to get to is behinde the 3rd wheel from the front. Pull the rods off between 2nd and 3rd drive wheels, take bottom cover off, lift the wheels out. Reinstall cover plate then drive out the drift pin. What do you think?
Talked with Walther Parts today. Cannot buy just the truck side frame for the Walthers Proto 2000 Bessmer that broke. I would have to buy the whole truck for $25.00 plus shipping! No thanks! But I will find some hack to get it on.

Looks like you can get to #76 from the bottom. The pin is right behind the tire as you say. Did you have to drive the pin out when you changed the other gear? Hopefully it just presses out with only a little persuasion. I agree that by removing the side rod screws on #3 driver then taking off the bottom cover should drop the geared driver out. That way you don't have to mess with the eccentric crank.
The crank pin screws are 3mm but very rounded over, as you noticed. You might want to sand the face of the nut driver so it can get a good grip on the flats of the head. Mine weren't in very tight.
Speaking of Broadway Limited, I see the P5a is soon to be delivered . That will make a nice addition to my Pennsy Under Wire roster.

Yesterday was a bit crazy. Most people I've ever seen at the polls in .. ever.
Hopefully it'll stay sunny for the day, so that the back yard can dry up enough that I can get the leafblower out (it's one of those yard-goat style things, and don't feel like dealing with it sinking into the lawn). Bit crazy to "only" have the leaves falling in November. Usually they're bare by Halloween (or at least pretty well along).
On the modeling front - if UPS is to be believed, my little (corrected) blinkenled PCBs are going to arrive today, so that should provide a few hours of old-fashioned leaded fun (because seriously, lead-free solder is awful). Hopefully it works as planned :).
Dunno what kind of electronics trouble I'm going to get into next - maybe play around with a "cmri-lite" type board, based around some of these 'Tiny' series microcontrollers.
Yeah, I know about the offerings from MRCS-- but their cpNode "motherboard" is already $35 for a bare board (including the required "nonstandard formfactor arduino" that plugs into it).

Lead free solder is awful. I solder a lot in my repair sideline ( antique radios)
I used jclpcb -- heard about them from some youtube people, and ... well, can't really beat $15 for 10 boards shipped (note, it's 10 copies of the same board).
This is actually the second set - the first ones I designed wrong, and they didn't work (oh well, I've burned more money on kits that I've absolutely ruined, so)

Kiddo decided today wasn't a nap day, so didn't get a chance to get to the circuit board earlier this afternoon, but my wife got home early from work today, and decided to take the kiddo shopping with her (kiddo's) grandma, so that let me squeeze in about an hour's worth of leaf-blowing before it got too dark to do anything.
Have to run out to the homeless despot and get a 1 gallon (for you metric types, that's uh ... 1 gallon* ) -- but wifey's on the way home so don't want to miss goodnight to the kiddo.
After it got too dark, I did get a chance to solder up one of the PCBs. A few things are slower than I'd like -- mainly between power-on and "it starts". I think the caps may be charging - there are some relatively large ones on the output side of the voltage regulator.
Also learned which pin was connected to the heatsink of the vreg (ow).
Battery's dead on the camera (and the cellphone is misbehaving), maybe I'll remember when I get home from the store and take a pic of the completed one.

Train Front. Was getting ready to bragg I clearded 3 rolling stock from the RIP track, I was this close boss. When will I get Smart. (old folks will get it) Looks like the B&O 50' Box Car I fixed picked a turnout again. Funy thing I replaced both trucks and ran it last night for about 2 hours and tacked great! Worst part it was on the tail end of a 30' train and the cars on there side is at the hardest part of the layout to reach!
Ed On my Walthers Bessmer SD 7 where you by chances thinking Scenic Acccent Gule to hold the truck on? Far as the Budd? I think it would look great dragging coal. Thanks to YGW I have B&O coal cars out the caboose.
