When one store closes another opens
Posted by Lone Wolf and Santa Fe on Thursday, October 25, 2018 1:20 PM

Recently the local hobby shop closed. They were a place that I bought trains and slot cars since the 1970s. At one time they had a pretty large collection of model railroad items but over the years it got smaller and smaller until they only had one aisle. It got to where I pretty much only bought scenery, scratch building supplies or paint from them. It didn’t help that they cut back their hours until you had to go there on your lunch break or on Saturday morning, and they were closed Sunday through Tuesday.
Now I saw that a new model railroad store opened in a neighboring city about a half hour’s drive from here. They had their grand opening last weekend but I didn’t get to go. I do plan to go there in the future. I hope they stay open for a many years.
The store is called Upland Trains and they are in… Upland California.

I will be in Los Angeles in April, 2019. I will be sure to check out your new store.

The same thing happened in Fort Myers recently. Our last train store closed a few years ago. Then, a couple of years ago, Metro Trains opened up, and they seem to be doing just fine.

.

Hopefully this is a slow positive trend.
