Although I have never used it as roadbed for track, I have rolled and pressed scale ballast into to it to make some really nice "gravel" roads.

I have used this product in N scale with Microengineering code 55 track for quite some time. I find it excellent to work with and quite versatile.

Well I have used the HO version. I am mixed as to the results. It is a little tricker to work with and you do have to be diliberat when you lay the track. I went back and reworked my layout and had to really work to save the track. As for holding balast - it is great. Also it does work great for parking lots and cobbled roads. So in conclusion - it has its place and good uses. Just really plan first. ( Not like me who likes to change things all the time!)
