HO Cryogenic LOX Tank like NASA uses
Posted by dragonriversteel on Tuesday, September 4, 2018 11:08 AM

Hi folks,

On the work bench today sits a 8" diameter Christmas orement bought from Old Pottery. Cost $5.00 USD.

I'm attempting to turn this eyesore into a large diameter liquid oxygen tank like NASA uses.

Why would anybody do such a thing ? Easy. No HO manufacturer makes a large LOX tank that I am aware of.

I bought a Broadway limited cyogenic tank car for use in my steel mill. That got me thinking about cyogenic support equipment . For instance, cyogenic tractor trailers, tanks etc.

Had to scrap off Christmas design glue gunk.  Did so with sharp knife. Now it's a matter of scratch building the I beams to hold the tank. A little white spray paint and large no smoking decals.

Should be a fun build. I'll try to share pictures when completed & possible tutorial on how I did it for those who'd like to model a LOX Tank.
