Lenz Wireless

I'm running the Lenz system and have just gone wireless with digital cordless phone, I can't get the CVP system here they won't sell it outside the USA.

The Lenz system is great cheap and reliable and I like it more than the knob based throttle on the Lenz compact.

One of the layouts I operate on has been using the CVP wireless throttles for several years now. I have to say that of all the wireless systems I've run on, I like the CVP wireless throttle the best, though I'm rapidly developing a real fondness for the Digitrax UT4R.

The CVP wireless throttle is a knob throttle, is very responsive, and has the additional benefit of being usable across several different brands of DCC (though the base station is specific for the various brands).

I use the lenz set 100 there push button dispatchers throttle i think is the easiest most responsive throttle around.The whole lenz system I think is one of the best systems on the market.I tried the cordless phone approach could not get comfortable using a phone as a throttle.Maybe just me and i do have a history of being hard headed,but when i don;t like something I just don't like it.I went the CVP wireless for lenz haven't tried it yet so i'am not sure but from what i have heard it is a very good wireless system. I believe that the Cvp wireless throttle is knob control instead of push button.

I think wireless options for DCC boil down (in one sense) to whether you you prefer a knob or are comfortable with buttons. Some folks just do not care for buttons as a means of speed control.

We briefly considered this system for a friend's layout my brother and I are converting to DCC- it's inexpensive, and from what we've seen, it's reliable. What immediately took it out of consideration for our purposes was that the layout owner doesn't like pushbutton-only throttles.

Ok I am Parkerlegend and I am here to let you know what I think of this Lenz wireless system. First off The reason you havd so many views but no replies is that most people go with the flow of others and since alot of people rave about Digitrax Zepher and Chief systems others tend to go with that system. So alot of guys here have that system not many have Lenz. I do have the LENS system as Solosdad said.
I recently bought the wireless adapter for the cordless phone use about a month and a half ago or so. How easy is it? Wow it is so damn easy I love it!! Here is what it is like
1 2 3 (1) slows down one step (2)train to go forward (3) speeds up one step
4 5 6 (4) slows down medium steps (5) stops the train (6) speeds up med. steps
7 8 9 (7) slows down fast (8) train to go reverse (9) speeds up fast
* 0 # (*) press after train # (0) emergency stops the track (#) press 1st to call train

This si what you have to play with. You cannot program a train or MU from this but can do all else with this. Yes you can even operate sound too by pressing *1, *2,*3,*etc. It is very easy to operate as illustrated. It is cheap compared to Digitrax and Nce wireless. The adapter is $45 from Litchfield Station.
IMO I say it is a very good buy and for me I am so very happy to have wireless from a cordless phone. I almost sold my Lenz system set 100 to purchase a Digitrax for wireless before I looked into our system. When I saw the Adapter I figured I had nothing to lose by trying it and will not have to sell the system for Digitrax. I made a great decision.
Bottom line is if you buy it, You will love it!!! Do your thang.[:D]

Pros: It's inexpensive. It has very good range (unless the cordless phone you use is a REAL junker).

Cons: It uses a cordless phone as a DCC controller. Fine as long as you remember what buttons do what as far as speed and direction.

Personally, I dislike button controls of ANY type, DC or DCC. I want a KNOB to turn formy speed control.

Your only other wireless option for Lenz is CVP EasyDCC, they have a wireless base and throttles which will work with Lenz. Those throttles have knobs for speed control. But it isn't nearly as cheap as the phone adapter.

ParkerLegend - a member of this forum has experience with the wireless phone option. You may want to contact him directly - also try doing a search for lenz phone adapter (or something similiar) in the DCC section of this forum.

I'm thinking of purchasing a Lenz Wireless Phone Adapter, does anyone have any experience with one and what are the pros and cons? I just finished the benchwork on my around the room layout and I'm thinking wireless might just be the ticket. BTW my system is a Lenz 100. thanks
