First of all, consult the manual that came with the Train. Make sure the wires connecing the track to the transformer are connected to the proper plugs (or jacks, or however you connect the wires) Remeber, red goes to red, black goes to black. Also make sure the wires are plugged into the Track jacks of the transformer and not the accessory jack. Also, The transformer should have a throttle or dial on it. I'm sure you've tried turning that. And make sure the outlet has the proper power capacity of the transformer. It may be getting too much or too little power to operate. If none of this works, you can take it into a hobby shop that sevices models and ask them to check it out, or exchange it because probably there is a short in the engine's motor system somewhere

HELP w/ getting started
Posted by Anonymous on Saturday, December 25, 2004 4:19 PM
I am a beginner. I just bought a LGP G-scale Santa Fe Freight model for my son. I've assembled the whole thing, plugged it in. The lights come on, smoke comes out but the locomotive simply does not move.

What am I doing wrong? Why doesn't this train actually move?

Thank you.
