Looking for an old CTC-80 Command Station...
Posted by fmilhaupt on Friday, December 24, 2004 10:02 AM
One of the layouts I operate on regularly has been happily using CTC-80 for as long as it has been out. Since Larry Keeler dropped support for it a while back, we've been able to keep it going with replacement parts (throttles, receivers and power stations), we've managed to get from folks who have migrated away from it to DCC.

The one component we haven't been able to find, so far, is a CTC-80 command station to keep on hand as a back-up. As a result, I'm very interested in locating and purchasing a used command station to keep in reserve.

For a number of reasons, converting this layout to DCC is not practical in the short term, though a couple of us who provide technical support for this layout have been working on a plan to do so, eventually. My key objective here is to get this last piece we need to be able to support regular operating sessions until we can eventually make the conversion. This layout attracts visiting operators from all over the US, so we're particularly trying to avoid having to end an operating session abruptly due to a command station failure.

So, does anyone know of a used CTC-80 command station that's otherwise gathering dust, that the owner would be willing to sell?

Does it have to be exactly CTC-80? I could probably round a RailCommand or PMP112 system. Would either of those work. As I recall PMP to CTC required changing resistor 12 or 13 to a new value.
