Darth,

What ever You can find that You would need.....get maybe a list together and questions You may have, post them here or send Me a PM.......He is willing to help any way He can. In fact He is a member of this forum, But He does not post much any longer........I'll ask Him, if You could deal with Him directly via e-mail. He is well aware of the Kitmaster kits and showed Me a pic' of another MFG'er model of the same engine that was out in the 60's/70's. He mentioned a Tri-ang chassis in one of His posts...I don't know much about that one, I'll have to ask Him.

................................................................................................................

Frank

Here is an idea (light bulb moment)

Tri-ang chassis fit into Kitmaster body and then re-wheel.

Just an idea

Brent

I have 2 of the Kitmaster kits

Yup, it's the Stirling Single 4-2-2!  I already have the Kitmaster model (which I bought on a whim), and it's actually very well designed and scaled as far as I can tell.  Even with the expense of the quality Markits wheels, it'll cost me less than half as much as that new model, and it's easy enough to modify and detail it to that level.

I still need to look more into their catalogs for those large drive wheels, but if your friend can help, that would be great!

Andre,

Thanks for that info. I don't know whether the OP Darth knows about this or if He wants it bad enough to pay USD 319.62 for a DCC ready engine......229.00 UK. Here's an update....ready next month:

Uh, guys, Rapido is bringing out an up to date Stirling Single in concert with the National Railway Museum. That would probably make more sense than trying to power a 50’s era Kitmaster display model. However, Hatton’s is showing it as sold out, so they may be hard to come by.

It's really kind of hard to support your local hobby shop when the nearest hobby shop that's worth the name is a 150 mile roundtrip.

Darth,

I've heard back with My friend in the UK and this is what He had to say:

.....................................................................................................

Frank

Sorry, I have not dealt with Markits.

They are 197 miles away from me.

What is the engine you are working on ? I might have or be able to get parts via a friend.

Brent

Is your shoulder ok ?

............................................................................................................................................................................................

If You could get all the things You need or any questions regarding the parts....and a full description of the engine......photo would be nice and send them to Me in a PM.....Then I'll give You My E-mail addy and or My friends, then We can communicate that way. To send Me a PM, just click on My Avatar and click on ''start a conversation''.

Thanks!

The only wheels I haven't figured out are the two main drivers.  They're 31mm, and I saw a post on another forum from a few years ago where someone used 32mm Romford wheels for a similar project.  Didn't see those in the catalog, but maybe I missed something.

Darth,

I sent My close friend in the UK an e-mail msg. I order a lot of things for Him in the US,  ship it to Him in bulk for the last few yrs. If it is not too far from Him and You know what You need.....more than likely, He will be able to get it and send it to either You or Me. He pays Me by Pay-Pal.......I let Him do that monthly. Very good friend of mine.

This is the correct place, right:

I will await His e-mail and respond here........usually He will respond right away, unless He's working

EDIT:

If You don't already have it, here is a price/product PDF for them:

Darth,

If you don't get a response here from any British modeler you may want to try at this British forum. You'll have to join to post a question.

Markits/Romford wheels
Posted by Darth Santa Fe on Sunday, February 25, 2018 6:36 PM

I picked up an old Rosebud Kitmaster model of the Stirling Single and am trying to motorize it.  I thought I'd use wheels from Markits or Romford (sold by Markits), but even after sending them multiple emails, I can't seem to get a response.  My phone service isn't set up for international calls, so that won't work.

Any British railroaders here have any tips on how to get a response and order something from them?
