i am trying to make some scratchbuilt doors for an HO scale wooden RPO by LaBelle and struggling to make them true. Any suggestions on how to build doors and windows in such a way as to make them square?
you just said it; build a jig, I would build it from styrene, wood glue won't stick to it, and you could flex it to remove door/window

I draw a plan on Railroad board for whatever I scratch build. In your case you would do this with a mini Square. Then I place the railroad board on one inch foam. I use T-Pins to hold my material to the railroad board drawing.
My illustration shows styrene. For wood I put down a layer of wax paper and use joint seeking super glue and accelerator. This works very well for wood applications.
When you get done with one door or window and want to make another one all you do is change the railroad board to a different location on the foam so your T- Pins are stable again.

Thanks jj! Those are great tools but i have those 1-2-3 weights that sort of due the same thing, and I think the strips of balsa wood are too small for the clamps. I think the jig idea using the railroad board and styrene could be the winners.
