Welcome to the "Show Me Something January 2018" thread!
This is a place where forum members can post their photos containing a view of the requested scene and/or object. No prototype photos, models only. After 24 hours, if the requested scene is not posted anyone is welcome to make their own submission and/or make their own request. Also if someone posts a picture without a request the last one still stands. Remember it's all about having fun!
I guess I'll go first.
Show me an SP heavyweight passenger train in the mountains, with a cab forward on the lead...
Steve
If everything seems under control, you're not going fast enough!
You didn't post a picture, and if you did, it didn't show up.
Mike.

That's a very impressive model.

DUH
That's what happens when you hit the hay at 3:00 AM after going to a 5 hour concert and then drive 3 hours to a football game that starts a 1:00 PM
Here's a model...
Please show me a SP heavyweight passenger train in the mountains with a cab forward on the lead, thank you.
NWP SWPHere's a model
Is it yours ?
UNCLEBUTCHIs it yours ?

My guess is... no. But Steven may have more information.
So, allow me to post a photo to kick-start the Show Me something thread. I don't have any cab-forwards but I do have some heavyweights:

Show me more passenger trains.
Some heavyweight passenger cars.
More heavyweight passenger cars, please.
Butch, sadly that's not mine but I hope to have a loco and layout like that someday...
Ed, nice NYC Boxcab...
South Penns request still stands, Heavyweight passenger cars...
Isn't this topic for showing ones own model scenes?

I haven't heard that...
NWP SWP I haven't heard that...
Your enthusiasm is grand, but there are some things here that are done certain ways and follow a precedent.
Posting a photo of your own model, is one of the "norms" of how Show Me Something works...
This space reserved for SpaceMouse's future presidential candidacy advertisements
Ok then, and in that case I have very little to contribute...
Steven, if you look at the past "Show Me" topics, you'll notice they are all photo's of the posters own layout scenes. No one told me that, but it's hard not to see a pattern after viewing the topic for a short while. Sharpen them powers of observations you may may notice it too!
Don't feel bad. I didn't have a layout for 14 years so I couldn't contribute either. It does mean you may have to practice patience a bit ... maybe hard I know but it gets easier with age! I worked on a layout past four years but moved "again" and plan on starting a-new later this year.
now to the naughty corner for you!
NWP SWPOk then, and in that case I have very little to contribute...
You don't have to have a full "working" layout to make decent photos to contribute to the forums. Many modelers make up simple dioramas that take up little space but you can showcase your models on them.
Look at what Ken Patterson does with some of his dioramas and you can find inspiration there.
Don't be discouraged — just start taking photos so you can build up a folder of useable images. Look into some of the free photo editing software so you can crop and manipulate your photos then upload them to one of the hosting sites mentioned in other threads here.
Good Luck, Ed
Ed, LOL
Considering the nature of the topic - show me this, show me that, you need a decent amount of "fodder" to really be able to participate, but a diorama is a start so at least you can stage enough scenes to contribute. My 10x18' layout really didn't get far enough along to have more than a few semi-usable scenes so I never even bothered since this really is the realm of the more competed layout folks! Hope springs eternal.
riogrande5761you need a decent amount of "fodder" to really be able to participate,
That's it! A Fodder Folder
Actually for some photos a nice "natural" background and bright sunlight really make a model look great.
Take a look at what this fellow does with "simple" dioramas!

Another suggestion for Steven — you can participate in the "Weekend Photo Fun" or WPF thread where you can post your photos of any model railroad themed subjects from a project you're working on, doesn't have to be completed, to a photo of some of your favorite rolling stock or structures.
Now! Back to our regular programming Heavyweight passenger trains.
Cheers! Ed

Maybe I'll build a 2x4 diorama and see what happens...
NWP SWPOk then, and in that case I have very little to contribute
And yet, over 900 posts in a year...almost 3 a day
Well I've only been posting a total of 6 months, 3 at the beginning of the year, a 6 month break, and 3 month now... but anyway I meant far as pictures go...
NWP SWP Maybe I'll build a 2x4 diorama and see what happens...
Yes! Build SOMETHING. A car, building, diorama... Weather one of your finished kits. Super detail an engine or caboose. SOMETHING.
Stop focusing on forums and online life, and BUILD!
Ok I'll start a thread about it for suggestions and to show my progress...
NWP SWP Ok I'll start a thread about it for suggestions and to show my progress...
Excuse my shouting Steven but...you DON'T need more suggestions! You've gotten TONS of advice over the past year on various threads but you've done VERY little with it other than assembling a few Accurail kits. All you do is dream and come up with ideas that are WAY beyond your current skill sets and financial means.
If you are going to move on from here, find something more difficut than (but still as affordable as) Athearn BB or Accurail kits and broaden your skills. Make mistakes, learn from them, and try making corrections to those mistakes. THAT'S how you learn.
Once you've put together more complicated kits, try your hand at a laser structure. Pick a simple one at first and - again - make mistakes; learn from them; make the necessary adjustments and corrections. Then move onto a simple craftsman kit and continue on from there in bite-size and obtainable chunks.
Modeling is not complicated but it is an acquired skill. I'm over 3x your age and there's some things that I'm still not quite ready to tackle yet. The key is: Honing and pushing your skill sets to new levels each time you work on something.
You'll NEVER fly a plane if you haven't built a paper version of one yet. Stop the dreaming and be practical about your next steps if you truly want to reach the goals that you desire in MRRing. Otherwise, you'll just become or stay a consummate armchair modeler.

Time...It marches on...without ever turning around to see if anyone is even keeping in step.
I'm not going to quote you're entire post TStage, but that sums things up quite well.
In the words you said to me many months ago, "cool your jets"
I need to build a layout and build my skills but I have VERY little extra money to even buy a sheet of plywood! In a month I'll hopefully have a job and then I'll really be doing a lot...
Let's get this thread moving along... I believe SouthPenn requested more heavyweight passenger cars...
I agree, we are getting way
An MEC passenger train with 2 HW coaches and a diner on my layout
Also B&M 84 diner Mountaineer with complete intrerior also on my layout
Show me more HW passenger cars
George In Midcoast Maine, 'bout halfway up the Rockland branch
How 'bout we just start this one over with a clean slate?...
