Why is the diverging track radius on the curved turnout so sharp? Shouldn't it be 26" or 28"?

If you want larger radii curved turnouts, have a look at Peco HO Code 83s. They are 60" and 36" respectively.

I'm just a dude with a bad back having a lot of fun with model trains, and finally building a layout!

Atlas Customline curved turnouts

I ordered some from one of the big online train stores that were backordered for months.  I have been watching the Atlas Productions Shipping schedule  http://shop.atlasrr.com/t-ordership.aspx

After they revamped their website, I guess they don't update this page as it is still showing due 3rd quarter 2017.  The S-2 is also in country, due 4th quarter.  A week ago I got an email that Trainworld was shipping both.  The S-2 is in their latest monthly catalog, but not the turnouts.

The turnouts are long.  The radius is 30 outside, 24" inside if I recall correctly.  The frog is about 1 1/2" long.  I have not taken it out of the package yet.

The S-2 is a B&O with loksound.  It runs and sounds good.  I need to figure out weathering for a loco with window glass in place, as dullcoat and clear plastic doesn't work.

Merry Christmas to myself.
