Over the years I have owned several of those C420s. I found that they were not very consistant runners. Some ran fine out of the box, others required a lot of tinkering.

Hi there. Apparently, NWSL had gears for this loco at some point. You might want to send them an email to check. You can also check Ebay for a donor loco for spare parts...

Recently bought 3 used Rivarossi/Lima/MRC HO C-420's. When test running them I found that one ran fine, and the other two ran very noisey and jerky, then stopped moving. A check inside showed broken dogbone drive shafts and broken teeth on the gears in the trucks. Where can I find repair parts or a more reliable drive train?
