It's that time of the week again....Weekend photo fun. FOr those who are new...WPF is where we post what we are working on, or have finished.
My club is in the middle of an open house right now, so I can't do a ton of serious work...but I'm still getting some wiring in the roundhouse....
At night...
close up on the section with the second set of lights
I plan to add another set of lights to all 18 stalls.
Let's see what everyone is working on ..
(My Model Railroad, My Rules)
These are the opinions of an under 35 , from the east end of, and modeling, the same section of the Wheeling and Lake Erie railway. As well as a freelanced road (Austinville and Dynamite City railroad).
Jimmy ... Thank you for starting weekend photo fun .... The lighted roundhouse certainly is improessive .
Below is a photo of a picnic birthday party in the county park. A Good Humor Ice Cream truck is parked there. Behind you can see a Burlington suburban train is stopped at Prairie View Depot.

Good start to WPF. Hope this shows up - my first try since photobucket kicked me to the curb:
Nope...Back to the drawing board...
Hello, Folks!
It is a bone-chilling 4°F here on the Great Lakes! Great weather for turning up the heat in the train room
Thanks for starting us out this weekend, Jimmy. That roundhouse is looking better every time I see it . I love the shadows of the window mullions cast on the walls.
Are those CB&Q double-deckers called "Scoots" Garry? The narrator on the Green Frog videos says they are... I always wondered. Great scene! I hope those cows in yonder pasture know that their rich cream is for a good deed when it winds up in that Good Humor van
I'm glad you could play Santa's Elf and fix the little tykes train, Bear. A good deed indeed
I hope you get your photo woes figured out, MM. That whole Photobucket fiasco has me . I've been using Flickr and had it as a backup for years. Now I use it as my hosting site, too.
Maybe you fellows saw my hill holder that I installed last week?

I needed a way to "set the hand brakes" on a cut of cars on a grade. Been meaning to do this for some time now.

Here's the "works" along with the board for the LogicRail Fusee Animator.
car_stop by Edmund, on Flickr
This "Armstrong" lever raises the pin. When engaged the limit switch actuates a fusee burning on the track to alert any approaching movements.
car_stop3 by Edmund, on Flickr
Once the pin is safely below the roadbed the fusee burns out in about fifteen seconds, sputtering out.
I managed to find a little time to paint a pair of baggage cars this week, too. The heavyweight was formerly Illinois Central but I relettered it for P&LE and added a couple of express workers and lights.

...and this smoothside car was once Pennsylvania, I don't believe the PRR had any cars like these. But Erie did.
IMG_0549_fix by Edmund, on Flickr
I still have to do some trimming, weathering and get the roof on. A work in progress.

I DO like this combination of colors that the Erie had for a while. I'm slowly working toward a decent looking Erie Limited or Lake Cities.
On to more great stuff, folks!
Happy Modeling, Ed
Jimmy, Now it looks like someone paid the power bill
GARRY, Love the ice cream truck. It's sure not December wherever that picnic is.
Bear, Sounds like a real slog, so I can see you being willing to work on any train that comes within reach. Looks like something to make the kids very happy and keep grandma from sheding a tear. A railroad that runs into a tree sounda quite fabulous, especially if you like logging.
Keep trying, Mike
Ed, Got several hillholders, but none that are sophisticated like yours. The fusee effect is cool!
Not building much on it yet, but I got a few things together here at the end of the year.
Three NCE EB-1 are good news for my operators as they will keep things runnng even when a short gets in the way for one of them. Due to some preplanning, all three are already at work.
A couple of Durango Press idler flat kits look interesting.
What's inside.
A little outside the bounds for my usual interest is the DSS&A version of the Sparrows Point caboose kit.
And then my Menards cable exccavator arrived.

Jimmy: Nice pictures, I love roundhouses and turntables.
.
Bear: Working on a club layout might become something I am doing too. Just considering it... we will see.
Mike: Please keep working on posting pictures. WPF has shrunk since Photobucket pooped out on everyone.
Ed: Nice work on the car holding apparatus. The fusee is a very nice touch.
Another Mike: Have fun with the kits!
I finished one boxcar this week. I really went to town weathering the roof on this one. Maybe I went too far.
Keep the pictures coming.

Lot of good stuff going on...kudos to All!
Sneak peek of a scratch/bash JaBear construction co. Garage/shop/office.....a lot of mods......started out as a Walthers Magic Pan Bakery conerstone kit.

Good Morning from Cloudy, Snowy and Cold Northeast Ohio!!
Jimmy, Your roundhouse and turntable are coming along nicely.
Bear, working on the club layout is about all I can do except adding to my fleet, have lots of fun at the club.
Mike, Please keep working on posting pictures, I miss your layout shots!
Keving, in my opinion any weathering is too much weathering!
Ed, nice work on the car holding apparatus, the fusee is a very nice touch, I get to see a lot of Erie equipement at the club as one of our members is into the Erie/Erie Lackawanna.
Garry, keep your pictures coming, they are always great to look at.
Mike L, have fun with your kits, that crane is a nice looking piece of equipement.
I did not get anything finished this week, bowling has taken up quite of bit of time lately. So here is an old picture taken at the club,
DT&I GP38-2's with a train of coil cars heading to the stamping plant.
Thanks for lookin!

dti406Mike L, have fun with your kits, that crane is a nice looking piece of equipement.
Rick,
Thanks! I will do a brief reveiew if I get a chance. I'm hoping to backdate it some in appreance. And maybe disassemble it for transoprt. I may get another crane solely for the purpose of breaking down. The boom is assembled with tiny screws underneath, but there are several perma-rivets that I'd have to drill out, so would be hard to put it back together. So I may end up with 2 cranes, one built and one in pieces for loading on RR cars.
Rick, Frank, Bear, Ed, Mike L.... (and any I may have missed) ... Thanks for the comments on my birthday picnic scene. ...
Ed ... I have not heard of the word, scoots, used to describe Burlington commuter cars. I have heard the Burlintong suburban trains called "dinkies", but don't know why that word is used. .... I like your hill stopper and the baggage cars.
Mike L ... The flat car kit looks like it will be fun. That is a big crane.
Bear... Looks like a fun Christmas train, and it was good of you to repair it. I suggest you take more breaks from your work so you can build more of your models. You are very talented.
Mike (MiddleMan) ..... I hope you solve the photo posting issue so we can see your UP layout again. I suggest you look for the long thread which began when PhotoBucket made its changes. Within it you can learn how to use Flickr and others. (You do have to sift through the gripes in that thread about what photobucket did, however. )
Kevin .... Nice weathring of the boxcar.
Frank .... Good Humor had some yummy ice cream bars such as strawberry shortcake bars. Your industrial building is looking good so far.
Rick ... i always like seeing your DT&I locomotives.

Thanks, everyone, for the encouragement. I spent a couple of hours on the trains test thread, tweaking images from "google drive". Got it working just the way I want on the test thread - see here:
http://cs.trains.com/trc/f/2/t/266749.aspx
but it doesn't work when tried in this thread - go figure.
Anyway,let's give Imgur a try:
Finally getting most of the plywood and foam covered.
Thanks again for the support, and your terrific contributions to this thread.
Mike
Mike,
Awesome! That's the look of the high country
Nice work!
Ooopps, forgot I have a video newly available, testing my Eachine FPV DVR' recording using a wireless cam taped to a flatcar. Not sure I can fit it on thenarrowgauge, but will try when I get a chance.
WARNING! I haven't figured out the audio controls yet or have some other issue. TURN DOWN your VOLUME before playng! Your ears will thank you. I'll try to get that fixed.

Another great start to WPF. Keep them coming guys.
I've been working sporadically on this old Bachmann Frankfort Junction station Kit with the idea of replacing my Black River Station with a larger model. So far I've cut down the base plate and the roof panels so it will fit in the old station location.
New station with cut down base.
The same with the cut down roof panels in place.
Where it is going when finished.
Keep the photos and ideas coming everyone. Thanks to you WPF is always the best thread of the week.
Remember its your railroad

Excellent work from all! I haven't taken any new pictures lately, so I'll pull one from the archives.
GLC 501 pulls out on the main:
Mike L., that Menards crane looks pretty good. A little extra detail work and it's a great represention of a Liebherr LR 1100 series. Just might have to get one those. And, thanks for the train ride.

mbinsewiA little extra detail work and it's a great represention of a Liebherr LR 1100 series.
Thanks for the tip. I'd like it to look older than it seems out of the box. It's a great value for the money. I was showing it to a friend and he was pleased that it not only looks good, but also operates.
Good Evening All.
Some very nice work so far.
Here is what I have been working on of late. (And a peek at some others as well...)

The Fading paint, and the (slightly) Rusty roof are the results.
What do you all think? Does it pass as a "In Service" car?

I wrote up a review of my new Menards crane and it is here: http://cs.trains.com/mrr/f/88/t/266786.aspx
Jimmy, Thanks for the WPF start-up, nice illumination & wishing you and the club a happy open house. Club open houses are the stuff that dreams are made of, especially during the holiday season.
Garry, Background blends in well, and who can forget the good ol' ice cream man, or the milk man, or the Peter Wheat bread & donut man.
Bear, Santa hats off to you, simply heartwarming, "you da' man."
Ricky W., Your fade looks good.
Dustin' off another re-run.
Thanks to all and Best Wishes, Peter
Mike L: Thanks for the kind words. I enjoyed your video. The layout looks very good from that perspective, and I was surprised by how much standard(and dual)gauge line you have.
Got this in the mail Friday:
65' On3 turntable kit from Kitwood Hill Models - a joy to work on so far, everything fits perfectly.A "large" roundhouse(big enough for K-class loco's)is due out in January,so I hope to have this space filled soon.
Enjoy the rest of the weekend.
Nice looking turntable.
middlemanMike L: Thanks for the kind words. I enjoyed your video. The layout looks very good from that perspective, and I was surprised by how much standard(and dual)gauge line you have.
I tend to stay dissatisfied with my scenery until I look at pics and videos. Must be doing something right, as they tend to look pretty good and the flaws there are are readily visible and correctable - if I could just get back to them.
The video shows about 3/4 of my visible standard/dual gauge track. Originally (pre-Blackstone) it was there to have something running, since building enough rolling stock for a medium-sized narrowgauge line could be half a life's story back then. I wanted trains running, so easiest thing to do was to include a loop of standrad gauge. And I wanted just enough to make some dual-gauge plausible. It doesn't get operated much except by me.
We are blessed with mutltiple Mikes this weekend ... All with great stuff.
Mike (Middle Man) ... I'm glad you solved the photo posting issue with some great narrow guage shots. Do you still have your UP layout also?
Mike ( in se wi ) .... Nice scene with the lake in the backdrop.
Mike L .... your video gives a great perspective of the layout.
Peter ! .... Thanks ! for commenting on my photo. ... Your photo looks like it is a Norman Rockwell scene !!! Amazing !
Ricky ... Your weathering of the CSX boxcar is outstanding .
Allan .... Looking forward to seeing the station when completed.
Terry in TX .... I enjoyed watching the C&O U-Boats ... Are they U28B's ?
Garry: I had to take the HO layout down to make room for the narrow gauge - but I still have all the engines, rolling stock, and many of the buildings,so it may reappear someday!
I've gone back several times to your "picnic'' shot. Those Hi-Levels make an imposing train, and I've been looking at the cows in the background, trying to figure out where your scenery ends and the backdrop begins. Nicely done.
Lots of "good stuff" as usual this weekend, but my desktop died yesterday, and I'm typing on a laptop that hates me,so I'll just say thanks to all,and shut this blankety-blank machine down.
I am posting for the first time! Work is progressing well on the Francisquito Valley Railway - nothing like wet, cold and short days to speed up construction. For now, photos of Knapford Station from the streetside. A commuter train is idling on Platform 2.
The tourist special with cruise ship passengers from Brendam Docks has arrived on Platform 1. While the tourists will enjoy afternoon shopping, the train will be catered and turned around for its dinner run back to Brendam.
This is an overview shot, taken from the roof of the Whole Foods Plant on Track 5, looking West. The mainline curves to the right, behind the wall. The signals are computer-controlled based on route occupancy and turnout location.
NP01I am posting for the first time!
Great to see a new contributor! Very nice work on your depot area, and excellent looking ballast work
I'll look forward to more!
Excellent contributions from everyone else, too...

Mike .... Thanks for replying. Now that you mention it, I do recall you did take down the HO for the On3.. .. The scenery in the "picnic" shot was made with an effort to hide where it meets the beackdrop. The cows are N-scale which forces perspective on my HO layout. They are on a field which slopes upward to meet the backdrop. I try to match colors of scenery and backdrop, too.
