Good evening forum members.
I thought this could be a fun thread. I'm sure many of us have a train or railroad tree ornament. I do,......my one and only. A Chassis System 4-8-4 Northern made by Lionel, sold by Hallmark, I picked up 10-12 years ago.
Edit This ornament fits N scale track perfectly. I am going to attempt to wire it onto a piece of track so I can hang it on the tree as a whole. I will let you know how that goes.
Happy holidays Track Fiddler
I've got some Hallmark train ornaments including a mini Lionel Hudson (reason I got that is I got an O27 Lionel Hudson for Christmas as a 4 year old. I still have it, although it's worse for the wear and missing the front pilot wheels and the whistle in the tender is gone since I gutted it as a teen in my years of curiosity and tinkering. I have a few other Hallmarks too.
Why no photos? My smart phone died and I'm searching for a replacement and like so many others, I rely on it for photo's.
Rio Grande. The Action Road - Focus 1977-1983
Rio I would love to see that Old Hudson missing the front pilot wheels, whistle and the tender..... That's good old important stuff.
What makes old stuff like that more important is, there are reasons things are missing only known to the beholder.
I hope you get a new phone I'd like to see that Hudson.
Regards Track Fiddler
Edit I have some old beat-up stuff from yesteryear that is way more important to me than new stuff I have today.

Thanks for the fun thread and photo of your Chessie keepsake ornament, and Happy Holidays to you Track Fiddler.
My favorite railroad ornament was made by my wife many, many Christmas seasons ago when the only electric train in the house was our old Lionel that ran around the tree.
Regards and a joyous holiday season to all, Peter
Peter That's a gem...... I always did like homemade things. Especially when someone goes through all the thought to make something for you. That little train sure has a lot of character.
Best Holiday Wishes to you
Track Fiddler
That's some funny stuff Ed.
Thanks, Track Fiddler
I have fun making up those kinds of scenes
Got the entire Hallmark Lionel ornament collection going back to 1996 on my tree. There's also a Hallmark motion ornament of a hillside village with a train going around it. I haven't actually run the ornament since I got it due to its age and since the motor does make noise as it runs, but I've got it stopped so that the train is right in front.

I have the set that Ed has. I had it since 2006/2007 (that it says on the box.)
I place it around the miniature tree like a train set going around fake presents. It doesn't have any track.
It is a nice Hallmark Lionel 5 piece train set. Sorry no picture.

an ornament I picked up in Pigeon Forge one year.
Kevin Nice video. I enjoyed it but I did'nt know what I was looking for as I have not seen the Hallmark collection...... I did see some, and I definitely saw the Chessie....... Nice tree lighting
Angelo You got the whole set too. I only have one of the set. I sure am curious what the whole set consists of.? Sure,.. I could look it up. What fun would that be?
Three Stooges 4 (I like that one) Two fuel tanks is definitely better than one on the Illinois Central. Especially an F7 hanging on a Christmas tree. NICE!
Thanks Track Fiddler
PS Just finishing up my wire job on the Chessie tonight.
PS again I get a kick out of dual tanks every time I see them. My dual tanks on my old Ford sure saved me more than once driving around looking for the Gravel Pit or Logging Camp socials back in the day.

The set includes a 4-4-2 locomotive with a tender (decorated in red and a green band.) A green 50' boxcar with a Santa Sleigh that reads "The Christmas Eve Route". Next to last is a 50' white gondola with a green grates. And the caboose that Ed post earlier.

Uh-oh, the jig is up, Lol, Thanks Bob
This is the only train ornament on our tree.
.
We picked it up at Michael's this year, so for about $5.00, anyone can have one just like it!

Living the dream.
Kevin My wife is going to Michael's to pick up more yarn for her craft. I'll tell her to pick one up, thanks.
I got my Chessie wired to the track last night. There is more to twisty ties than meets the eye. Most metals you bend back and forth or twist to tight, break. Not twisty ties I don't know what kind of metal they're made out of. I just stripped the paper off with my fingernails and good to go.
Now I just got to find a good place to hang it on the tree in one piece like I always wanted.
PS Angelo. Thanks for the info and the picture link.

Kevin Just a few minutes ago my wife was getting ready to go out the door and head to Michaels. I showed her a picture of your tree ornament. She stopped dead in her tracks and replied "Oh that little train is just adorable!"
Then it was like she shifted into High Rev like she was on a mission. I guess yarn is not that exciting but little trains are.
The funny thing is, she didn't even ask me for the five bucks for it. Now I feel like I just got a free six pack of beer for the Vikings game today.

I hope she was able to find one.
My wife and I just got back from Michael's and the loose glass ornaments were pretty well picked through. Not much selection was left.

Is it any consequence that the locomotive was based on the Pere Marquette 1225?

Ed. The Polar Express set in the blue box looks like it would be a numbered limited edition. Just curious as I have never seen it before.
How is this? Been collecting Hallmark Lionels since #1.
