Howdy, I'm planning on getting an AC-12 from Intermountain with DCC amd sound. One with the all black cab and small "Southern Pacific Lines" tender lettering.
Anyway I also plan on purchasing an additional tender with the same lettering but DC only no sound. Now my plan is to remove the shell of the DC tender place a wire socket on the back end run a wire harness to the front with a plug that fits the socket on the locomotive. Add a drawbar to the DC tender and then just plug in the DC tenders plug into the locomotives socket hook the locomotive drawbar ro the DC tender then plug the DCC tenders Plug into the DC tenders socket and hook the DC tenders drawbar to the DCC tender and thats it.
Does anyone have some pictures of the drawbar and wire plugs and sockets on the DCC sound equipped AC-12s from Intermountain? I'd like to get all the stuff together to do the conversion before I get the locomotive that way I can get it done as soon as I get it. Any advice and opinions would be great.
Steve
If everything seems under control, you're not going fast enough!
Well I got to a computer and looked at a higher resolution image of Intermountains AC-12 and I found that the wire plug is on the locomotive not the tender and the socket is on the tender.
