Article on shortening MDC Pullman Palace passenger cars?
Posted by Nevin on Monday, November 27, 2017 7:48 AM

I can across an article about altering the MDC Harriman cars and since I have a number of old MDC Pullman Palace cars, I was wondering if anyone ever wrote an article on cutting and splicing these cars to shorten them or make them closer to a specific prototype.  I have not found anything with my initial searches,  Thanks.

Nevin,

Ive only hacked a couple of Overtons, but IIRC they are much the same as the shell on the lengthier MDC cars, which is what you'd be hacking. I recall mention of such alterations in the captions of various pics over the ears, but don't recall a spacific article right now, so look forward to such a reference, too.

I suspect it's pretty simple, either way. Find some prototype info to guide you, then assess what the MDC line offers in the way of "components" - sections of the car that are useful once chopped. More advanced methods would transplant or build up sections of the car side. Good stuff to experiment with in order to build confidnece n your skills.
