BigDaddy

One more thing, you are moderated for your first 10 posts.  Your response may take a while to appear.

It's four or five posts, actually.

Welcome.

You can find a lot about different brands by searching for reviews.

I have Bachmann and BLI HO engines. BLI better and more expensive depending on how youi search. There are a few details.

My BLI F3 with MARS light is incorrect. NYC never had the light from what I found out. Small detail if you count all the rivets.

Be advised, easy to break off small parts if the loco is handled to much, especially diesels.

I picked up from BLI some years ago, F7 A and B units DC  but ready for sound decoders and speakers. Sale.

Bachmann sound value are pretty good but there are a few CV details that bother some. Check the Bachmann forums.

Welcome to the forum.  The more accurate the title of your post, the better the response to your question.  If this is about the J class locos, you can go back to your original post and change the title to something like Bachmann vs BLI J class Which One?.  Use N and W if you like but not the ampersand or bad juju will happen with the HTML

If this is about the J class here are two youtube reviews.

BLI

Bachmann

Best is an elusive term.  For a guy that is happy with wine from a cardboard box, a Grand Cru is a waste of money.   For the guy that calls himself an Oenophile, box wine is wasted money.

The sound value DCC decoder in Bachmann is not a full featured decoder.

The price in the Bachmann online store is way inflated over what you can buy it for on the street.

BLI had quality issues in the past.  Everyone speaks highly of their customer service recently.

looking to buy a Norfolk and Western steam engine, with dcc and sound.....which is better...Bachmann or the Broadway Limited

I don't own either but Bachman has always been at the lower end of the market and Broadway is supposed to be higher end with more detail and quality, and correspondingly higher prices.

In general, you get what you pay for - it's probably the same here.  Now maybe someone with specific info on those engines can fill in some detail.
