Compared to the Just Plug system, the Light It can do a lot more, with respect to lighting effects. And it just gets power from the track bus, no extra wires.
Which can be a downside - for a few things here or there, especially using LEDs, it's no big deal. But to light up and coontrol a whole city with buildings and cars and streetlights, and grade crossings, and everything else - you may find that you end up needing an extra booster to power it all. Even the cheapest booster (ignoring DIY ones) is more expensive than a simple power supply to connect to the Just Plug system.
So, like everything else, there are pros and cons.

I'd also like to know a comparison with the Just Plug system. Seems like the light it would be less wiring since it runs off the track buss, where the just plug would have to run back to a central hub.
For those who just fell off a turnip truck, like me, it is a lighting/signal decoder board, 15x18 mm that comes in a 3, 6 or 15 pack.
