I did notice some differences in details between the two, so that explains that.  I think Kaslo made a detail kit for the older model, so with that, a newer drive, and a new paint job, the older model would look great next to a new one!

Very elegantly done.

I will say here that the early Rivarossi shell is a model of a phase II, while the later Rivarossi is a phase IIIb.

It so happens that Northern Pacific had both.  So I insert my dummy NP phase II with the later ones for a bit of slight variety.

 

I would almost consider putting the early shell on the later drive.  I believe Rivarossi was going to do a new early phase, but.........
