Thank you! I see the screws: one at the front beneath the front truck and two at the rear, beneath the trailing trucks. I'll try to remove them and the boiler. Wish me luck!
That diagramme is actually all you need. Study it. The information is all there.
Normally for BLI steamers, or maybe I should say often, its a screw under the 'engine' truck, and maybe one or two under the trailing truck. Or, under the draw bar. You lift from the boiler and cab at the rear after righting the locomotive carefully and holding it well in your hands, and then slide the boiler forward, toward the pilot, lifting at the same time. This action allows the item to clear the LED or bulb that lights the headlamp. At least, that's how I got my first-edition Hudson's boiler off.
I'd like to remove the boiler of a new Paragon 3 Broadway Limited C&O T-1 (2-10-4), but all we receive when buying the locomotive is an "exploded view" that really doesn't explain much. Like, what screws (are there any) that hold the boiler in place? It's really a nice locomotive so I somewhat fearful of mauling it. Do any of the modelers out there have some ideas about removing the boiler? Thanks in advance for any suggestions.
