Can you give me some advice on how i can best put my train set suspended on the ceiling. i don't have space for a layout. What materials should I use to hold the tracks? If there's anyone out there who've done this, can you give me some ideas. Thanks.

I can give you a ton of advice and ideas. I currently have a 12X6 layout that I have set up to hang from my garage ceiling during the summer when it is to hot to play with trains.
I built it using a frame work of 1X4 with 1X2 stringers across at 1 foot intervals. Then I laid 2" building insulation foam board over the stringers so that it is flush with the top of the 1X4's. The whole thing sets on a set of aluminum frame's that fold up when it goes up. The legs have casters so that I can roll it around to were I want it. If you want to send me your email address I can send some more info and pictures of all the pully system and stuff. I am at karmakreations@hotmail.com
Good luck
Bob R.

I have thought about doing this some time ago, simply because I was ratting out some Ideas for a larger layout. i decided that it really was not a functional idea(I know it sounds good, but wait to you actually start doing it).
Have you thought of other ways of building a layout. Like myself, space is a very big issue. I have managed though to build a 5'*11' layout in my bedroom in HO scale. It is a very functional layout and I can run relatively long trains!!
I would love to help you, but I need to knoww what scale you intend to model in or are modelling in! What your expectations from a model trrain layout are and what railroad you plan to model. As modelling regionals and short lines can be very satisfying!!! I model mostly class 1's. On my present layout it is NS and CSX. But I am collecting now for my favourite class1 and the biggest one in america, the mighty UNION PACIFIC!!
I'll probably build a layout for my UP in a couple of years(WHEN I FIND MORE SPACE).
Anyway back to you, I'll give you my e-maiil address so you can tell me all about what you want to do and maybe I can help you!!
It is: terrythomson2001@yahoo.com.au
I will look forward to hearing from you!!!!!
