First off, they are fuel tanks - diesels use diesel fuel and not gasoline. The ridge left on the side of the cast white metal tanks can be filed down first, then sanded smooth with sandpaper. Just watch that the sandpaper or file is not scratching the metal surface. If if does, then use a finer file or grade of sandpaper.

I'm with Bob. About everything he said sounds right.

Good Luck,

Fundy suggestion is right on.

After you file the ridge down, you can sand it with 320 to 400 grit. Now, to get rid of the sanding scratches, finish it off by wet sanding with 600 grit paper. Clean it and follow up with an airbrush or spray can coat of black, and she's ready to earn some revenue on your rail line!

Hope this helps![C):-)][tup]
