mlehman Renegade1c, May I ask, what's the origin of the caboose? Nice paint!
Renegade1c, May I ask, what's the origin of the caboose? Nice paint!
It's a brass PFM caboose I found for $70 at a hobby shop in Vancouver. It was unpainted. I added working EOT lights per the prototype ( currently sitting at the Ogden railroad museum). I also added an anti flicker circuit and replaced the brass trucks with Athearn genesis caboose trucks. They have built in pickup and look better as well. I also added interior seats in the cupola and a conductor as well. The photo darkens the orange. It's actually the same as the GP-40. They were painted at the same time.
I also have 4 proto west models resin kits I need build up. I think the next one will be a single stripe.
I also finished my RDC. It started as a New haven and I removed decals and repainted both ends. I added sound and working strobes on the head end.
Lastly the GP-40-2 is done and got the decoder installed

I had a rough week, and I am leaving for Atlanta tomorrow. I am in Chattanooga the week after. My projects are on hold waiting for a little time.

Power transfer crossing Hammer Creek.
HO-VeloBear, I like the harbor scene, especially the fishing boat.
Cheers, the Bear.

Jimmy, Thanks for the WPF start-up and the run-down station pics.
RDG Casey, Impressive loco and tender, so too the rock formation.
Bear, I like the harbor scene, especially the fishing boat.
Thanks to all and have a good weekend, regards, Peter
Outstanding work, everyone! Thanks for the comments, too!

Oh, nooooo! Let's hope for calmer seas and following winds...
Since track crews have got right on it (after some hocus-pocus under the workbench in the shop for a "staging yard") might as well put up some pics of progress to the end of track...

Best thing about this deadrail thing is just lay your track, no wiring, and away you go.

That is a sharp "critter" Dave! Those headlights are perfect for the job. I notice the safety tread, too
We had a plant in the Cleveland, Ohio area called Atlas Car & Manufacturing, Co. They made small locomotives and industrial pushers like this one:
Other than that cab, it kind of reminds me of yours!
Here's a couple more... maybe for future reference?

Great Stuff, everybody!

Excellent work everyone!!
I have added axle bearings, suspension springs and lights to my towmotor. The LED for the yellow beacon can be seen poking up through the hole in the middle of the top. The other LEDs have not been installed yet. That will get done after the final paint.
Dave
I'm just a dude with a bad back having a lot of fun with model trains, and finally building a layout!
The paint shop has been busy this week. Two locomotives (only one shown) and a caboose came out of the shop this week. The caboose is complete and the Gp-40-2 just needs final assembly once the clear coat dries. I am still deciding whether to weather it or not. i think I wil give it a light coat of dust grime.
mlehman Love that logging arch, need to get one or more myself.

middleman I need to see about adding some billboards
Tichy has just come out with a line of billboards; I just got the March of Dimes one - have not had time to take it out of the package, but it looks good. https://www.tichytraingroup.com/Shop/tabid/91/c/ho-billboards/Default.aspx

Rhaetian Railway class Ge 6/6 I, aka "Rhaetian Crocodile", passes through the Ruinaulta Gorge with a special excursion train on her way to Chur/Switzerland. From an old and faded Ektachrome slide ...
Good morning from cold and snowy Northeast Ohio!
Jimmy, that station is really looking good!
Alan, Climax's are neat logging locos, hope it lasts a long time for you.
George, Good looking D8, it is amazing on big one of the later D8L's are compared to the D8 of that time period.
Ed, Superb shots from your layout, will have to visit sometime.
Mike L, that large scale Shay is an awesome engine.
Mike M, Always had a soft heart for the narrow quage stuff since the 1977 NMRA convention in 1977.
Casey, it is not fair on the rest of us with your ability to kitbash not readily available engines.
I managed to finish a couple of cars this week:
A new Atlas FMC 5347 Boxcar kit, painted with Scalecoat II Reefer Yellow and Floquil Platinum Mist Paints, then lettered with Herald King Decals. Car was built in 1979 as part of the IPD Boxcar boom.
Walthers 50' Steel Express Refrigerator Car Kit, installed all the wire grabs after drilling myriad #80 holes. Painted car with Scalecoat II Pullman Green and lettered with Champ Decals. Car was built in the late 40's and used in mail and express service on passenger trains.
As Promised Here are some pictures of my assembly attempts on the LV X58 Boxcar.
Here is the underside of the car after installing the Keystone Cushioning Devices and various Cross-MemberReinforcements and general reinforcements.
Installed the various brackets to hold the Air Tank, Brake Cylinder and ABD Valve (with all the holes drilled out for various piping to be installed). Then installed the air lines connecting all the above mentioned equipment.
Thanks for looking!

Happy Weekend!
Jimmy: Nice work on the station, and thanks for starting things off.
Alan: Nifty loco and scene.
Good job on the tractor,George. I need to see about adding some billboards...
That scene is looking great,Ed,love the lighting.
Holy cow,Mike! Looks like the shay's ready for launch. Maybe a booster engine strapped to each side.
I'm adding scenery to the stock pen area:
Thinking about taking a break from scenery to get started on this MMI K-37.Got the speaker glued on,now all it needs are MV lenses,LEDs for the cab, class lights, firebox flicker, front and rear lights,Tsunami 2 decoder w/current keeper, and new Mashima motor.
Off to a fast start this week...keep 'em coming!
Mike
Jimmy, That station has seen better days.
Alan, Geared locos will be another them this week...
George, Love that logging arch, need to get one or more myself.
Ed, Getting to be a great scene.
Had a great time last weekend helping staff the Illinois Terminal Division NMRA table at the Lincoln Square Train Show. Great to see so many old friends and new model railroaders.
In the middle of all that, I finally got the big Bachmann RC/battery Shay going round and round.
After converting the nice AMS cars to Bachmann couplers, they even went around 24" R track, amazing.
Best of all, the Shay had no problem hauling 3 big cars up just about any grade you can imagine.
Yep, that is an 11% grade and wow, this will make track planning easy.
Thanks for setting up another round of WPF, Jimmy. The depot looks even better in the setting. Track nearby makes a big difference.
Looks like Alan and George have a logging theme going... from half-way 'round the world from each other! Very Nice!
Well, the SNOW is blowing outside and in my area of NE Ohio they're talking about 5 to 6 inshes of the fluffy stuff! Nice weather for modeling!
I put together a building that will be part of the developing post office scene:
While trying to decide on a shade of brick color, it hit me like a ton of... well
So I painted it white! I like it. I remember the old PRR Altoona station was painted white, top-to-bottom. No it isn't my favorite treatment for nice-old brick BUT on our layouts we need to have a little variety and I already have several red-brick structures there.
I'll be toning it down with a little Pan-Pastel and airbrush weathering soon.
Here's the east end. Hey, Dana Kawala is doing an article on a long "multimedia" highway overpass this month! Humm, sure looks familiar .
I also grabbed a couple of nice Tangent 8000 gal tank cars this week. I live about ten miles from the old Diamond Chemical plant where the black tank car would have been used.
I need to get down to a serious weathering session here, soon!
Great Stuff, Folks!
This week I finished a Car D8 tractor with logging arch that will go in a logging scene on the hill above the Monson village on the Boothbay Railway Village layout
Also a couple tractor billboards
Thanks for kicking off WPF this weekend Jimmy.
That building is coming along well.
I've been working on a turntable but my photo is of a new Climax that arrived from MBKlein this week. Nice little loco and I wish I'd ordered the sound decoder with it. Here it is on the Treetops logging branch line.

It's that time of the Week again. Weekend Photo fun. For those new here, this thread is posted by a member at the end of the week, so we can exhibit what we have been working on.
Glass was installed and the location sign was placed/
Let's see everyone else's projects.
