Thanks for the link to the real electric locomotives. I saw a few details that I will add to my critter. However, although my wife is very supportive of my hobby, somehow I think putting one of the real electric locos in our backyard would be testing her limits.

only battery powered instead of the overhead - note this one shows the driver in the front, not the back, but you can see another drawbar connection on the front.

You could probably make your own headlights by taking some brass tube and flaring the end to fit an MV lens. I don't know if *I* could do this, at least not without making 30 to get 2 good ones, but I've seen some of the other stuff you've done. Since you whole thing is rather freelance, you can make is just about any size you like. Hmm, if it's supposed to be home-built by the railroad shops, you could probably stick any headlight castings on there you want, even if they look too big for the loco, as in the frugal shop just used what they had laying around.

I started digging for "Galloping Goose" headlight parts and came across this Precision Scale part #31294

Although there's no bracket, the headlight part looks very similar.

My guess would be Cal- Scale. Not knowing what it actually is used for though will make it hard to find. I looked at a few that could possibly be a substitute. I stopped looking at page 8. Prior to that, there were some they may work....up to You to decide.

I don't know if You considered it, but it's quite possible to use a K&S Brass tube instead of trying to drill a hole in the shaft. Just drill a hole in the fixture and insert tube. I have used a lot of 1/32 brass tube for many things. That looks to be a good size for the shaft. Don't have it in My fat little hands though...hard to tell.

BTW: Caught a glimze of Your new critter looks good...just like to pass on to You that there was a MFG. of fork lift trucks and dock mules as they were called...the MFG'ers name was Towmotor. In My yrs. working on the dock I drove one...moons ago.

Hi gang!

I want to install a headlight and a reverse light on my tow motor project. Can anyone identify who made this casting?

I had two of them but while I was drilling the hole for the wires in one of them I managed to break the lamp off of its post. While I was attempting to solder the lamp to the bracket the lamp popped out of my pliers and disappeared into the ether. I spent many minutes on my knees (which are now sore) to no avail, and I have spent about an hour searching all the detail parts manufactures that I can think but I can't find the part (and no, I don't have the original package. I was too dumb to save it). So, if you can tell me who made it, or suggest a substitute I would be very gratefull. It has to be small i.e. ditchlight size.
