Customer Serivce Problems
Posted by Idaho Narrow Gauge News on Sunday, March 26, 2017 11:52 PM

I know this doesn't belong here but I have trouble getting answers from customer service, it usually takes two weeks and the the answers are cryptic and don't really answer the question... If you need to delete this, its OK, I just would like an answer...

First: I have been trying for months to get my subscription renewed. After several weeks I received several cryptic responses from you customer service department. I finally received my April issue but not the March issue.

A received an email saying you would send the March issue a month ago but have received nothing.

Second: I always order the print edition of Model Railroad Planning and pay the extra $4.00 for the digital edition (it seems silly I have to pay MORE for the same content). I have been trying to order it this time but it says the print edition is $8.99 and the digital edition is $8.99 extra!!! What is up with that?!?

Third: Two years ago I received my printed copy of the Big Boy special issue but never received the digital copy I paid for. Can you fix this?

I love all the new technology but customer service seems to be suffering...

Russel,

It might be best to call Kalmbach Customer Service directly rather than emailing them.  That way you can talk to someone one-on-one and get several of these issues addressed at the same time.  Here is their toll-free number: 1-800-533-6644.

I second giving them a phone call.

I worked in a retail customer service dept for years, the last several as the dept lead.

Phone calls get answered much quicker than emails.

The reason is simple: You can get distracted from answering an email much easier than answering a phone call. (Possibly distracted from said email simply by answering a phone call...)

I agree with the above comments; this forum does not connect with customer service

I've never had a problem when calling the Kalmbach Customer Service line.  When I've renewed my digital subscriptions to Trains, Classic Trains, and Model Railroader I've occassionaly had a Zinio problem (if you renew after your expiration date Zinio likes to skip an issue on renewal).  When that happens I call the Kalmbach 1-800-533-6644 Customer Service line and they fix the problem immediately.  Couldn't be nicer.  The one time I had to leave a message, they returned my call within three hours.
