NMRA WGH CAmpaign
Posted by Anonymous on Sunday, April 14, 2002 12:23 AM
I've sent emails to those in high places and have yet to recieve a reply. OH, I guess I should add a topic. Well, I might be going out on a limb here, but here goes; In the spirit of the WGH campaign I have asked for material ie. videos etc. for airing on Public Access Cable. To date I have yet to recieve even the most remote of answers. Pro or Con. I think that if this WGH campaign is to succeede It would need any public exposue it could get. I am blowing off steam here but m'be it will get me an answer or at least an acknowledgement of my queeries. Anyone else out there trying to put this Hobby out to the Public?

"Tracks Ahead" series has been available to public TV stations (at no cost from what I understand). If there is enough viewer interest, your local public station can air the series (look at the link on the fist page of this site).

I just received the WGH video and while it is good, at 15 minutes in length it might have a problem fitting into half-hour schedlules.

If you haven't signed up as a WGH ambassador, you might want to do that.

John - Although the body of your post doesn't indicate who you've tried to contact, the heading suggests it was NMRA. First of all, NMRA has only quite recently even agreed to particiapate in the WHG program. Secondly, NMRA is currently having great difficulties just attempting to get its own house in order and there are many who are complaining that their e-mails to the organization are going unanswered. Try contacting Kalmbach if you really expect a helpful reply on this subject.

John, it is not an NMRA program. The NMRA is not an active money donating sponsor. We support and endorse, but it is a Kalmbach program. Go to their web site at http://www.greatesthobby.com/ and sign up as an Ambassador. The Central Indiana Division of the NMRA has a couple of people and one club signed up in order to get the materials.

As far as promoting the hobby, the CID has been very active in doing exactly that for several years.

Vinny, Ray, John B., and Roger, A Thousand pardons for venting in this Forum. I enjoy this forum very much. As the old saw goes 'Ask and ye shall recieve'. I got exactly what I've been looking for. Maybe I haven't been paying enough attention to what I've been reading in different publications or at other venues of information, please accept my appolligies for thinking the way I have been. I will contact the specific sites that you all have been so insightful to supply me. By the way I have started shooting a HomeMade video of my own to air. If you live in the SW of OH maybe you will see it on your Local Access station. Thanks again!
Regards, John
