LakeErieExpressWell, im about a day late (though my weekend included Monday so a photo-fun post works for me.)
It's never too late!
gmpullmanThanks for the start of the Christmas Weekend Photo Fun, Bear! Maybe we should extend into Monday for the folkes celebrating Boxing Day?
Glad to see your photos!
Regards, Ed
Well, im about a day late (though my weekend included Monday so a photo-fun post works for me.) Spent Christmas Eve weathering a couple pieces of rolling stock my wife gifted me early for Christmas (gotta love a wife who indulges my modeling obsession ;).
Anyway, here's a Soo boxcar that she gave me and i spent little time weathering it to fit my liking. Enjoy! :)

peahrensI showed the Board Chairperson one of the above photos and she advised that my layout better have Christmas trees on it for next Christmas, with lights! That will require getting scenery done, plus the trees w/lights. Can the latter be done?
Cheers, the Bear.

Bear, Thanks for starting up the Yuletide WPF. Your locomotive project appears to be a good way to ring in the new year.
Thanks to all and Merry Christmas, regards, Peter
Wishing a very Merry Christmas to all!

Modeling HO with a transition era UP bent
Last year I dug up an old section of an N scale layout that was long lost to the attic gods. I made some slight changes and decided to try it again this year. So far so good............and my 3 yo and 4yo love it!!

A little late to the party but here goes.........a shipment of Christmas trees arrives at the yard on an ACL flat. I seem to have lost the paperwork for this transaction......
Using some of my time off around Christmas to take care of things I've put off.
...such as making flags for the locomotives on the Operations Road Show layout, so that our extras look like proper extras.
And in keeping with the season, in the background is a Christmas tree farm.

mlehmanNeat camera, but it needs a strap so those photogs can lug it around. What's the brand?
Hi, Mike,
It goes by SQ8. It was discussed on the MRH forum. For its size—and price— it is OK but there are better ones out there.

I bought mine from Amazon at $21.00! I think they went up after that but there are other sellers, too.
Merry Christmas, Everyone!

Merry Christmas to all, from Ray and Cris Dunakin and the In-ko-pah Railroad! And to those of the Jewish faith, we wish you a happy Hanukkah!
I don't have any new RR pics right now but I'd like to share my all-time favorite Youtube Christmas video:

Good afternoon from Northeast Ohio, I was late getting these cars done, also admired all the work by Bear, Tony, Mike and others.
Front Range 40' AAR Boxcar kit, with new sill steps from A-Line and Walk-Over Platform from Plano. Painted with Scalecoat II Armour Yellow and Black, Floquil Platinum Mist Paints, then lettered with Herald King Decals. These cars were originally built in the 50's as regular box cars, then were rebuilt in the 60' with insulation and plug doors for Campbell Soup Service. The Star Herald paint scheme was applied to a few cars in 1979.
Athearn PS 5344CF Boxcar Kit, added A-Line Sill steps and completed the brake rigging adding all the required rodding. Plainted with Scalecoat II Armour Yellow and Floquil Platinum Mist Paints. The KCS acquired these cars from the Vermont Railway in the 80's and kept them the same color with green lettering instead of their usually rust brown paint and white lettering.
Thanks for Looking

Rule 1: This is my railroad.

Rule 3: Illuminating discussion of prototype history, equipment and operating practices is always welcome, but in the event of visitor-perceived anacronisms, detail descrepancies or operating errors, consult RULE 1!
Merry and Happy Christmas to all!!

We'll get there sooner or later!
A great start to WPF again this weekend.
I thought I would post this photo now as I may not get a chance later.
Wishing all of you and yours a very Merry Christmas.

Good stuff so far everyone. AND I hope you all have a great XMas! Two pictures really caught my eye this morning, the paparazzi car and the chocolate train.. thanks for those Ed and Rdg Casey.
I have posted some of my weathered cars in the past, but few tank cars. I feel kind of weak on weathering those. I have a white tank in my possession and found a similar car with some interesting patterns to try.. well any way, here it is..

Some completed Baldwins, for the 1970s-80s New Hope and Ivyland Tourist Railroad. The M on the front of 302 is actually hand painted using a vinyl template I made at work on a plotter.
As far as I know the 2 engines were never pointed opposite directions on the line but they just look cool back to back.
And also a video of them in action, the trains may seem a little strange but the consists are not uncommon to what was run on the New Hope branch of the era.
It wouldn't be a Merry Chistmas without a Reading Chocolate Mine run!

Bear,
Ahhhh, now you've gone and ruined someone's weathering project...
I think Mrs. Bear puts up with model RRing in lieu of you bringing home little lost puppies...the trains are cheaper than the pack of wolves you'd otherwise be buying big ol' sacks of Purina to feed
Makes for a great holiday story, Santa Bear's Home for Wayward Trains...where every Lost Train has a happy ending
Neat camera, but it needs a strap so those photogs can lug it around. What's the brand?
My humble contributions to Holiday WPF. I caught 456 switching at Animas Forks.
Headed for Silverton and a long holiday WPF!
Have a great holiday, no matter who or what you celebrate!
In the Great Bear tradition of starting another project before finishing the last one (s), here’s a Cary Alco S-2, -4 shell that I’m trying to improve.
I thought I was the only one who did that! Glad I'm not alone. There should be a twelve-step program for fellows like us... but we would only get to step eight then go off to join another program!
Thanks for the start of the Christmas Weekend Photo Fun, Bear! Maybe we should extend into Monday for the folkes celebrating Boxing Day?
That little Alco brings back memories. I have one on the shelf (About 75% finished, of course!) I can see why the vendor wanted you to adopt the poor little puppy! She's in good hands, now I see you got the Alco truck side frames, too! Nice catch. They were extra cost. Mine was driven by an Athearn Baldwin S-12, if I recall.
So, I've been busy on the layout all week and I can't think of a thing that I've accomplished, at least to show a photo of. I put down more carpet squares. Eventually I'll have the whole basement done but Mrs. Pullman is eyeing the invoices... so I'll have to sneak a few boxes in from time-to-time.
I did get a pair of the upgraded Bowser PRR N5c cabin cars a few days ago
With the handrails and grab-irons already attached, the antenna installed and the window glazing in place... all for about $25 or so. What a deal! In the past I had to buy all that stuff separate, the Cal-Scale antenna kit was something like $17 all by itself, windows another $5 or $6. Metal wheels, $2-3.00.
Nice stuff from Lee English at Bowser!!!
My Paparrazzi car made a few rounds the other day...
What Fun!
Santa & Crew are in transit toward that big toy shop!
Blessings of the Holiday Season to all! I hope everyone has a safe and happy Christmas, Hanukkah, Boxing Day, Yule Time and Peace-On-Earth Day, everywhere.
