Recently purchased two of the museum quality models and must thank Scale Trains for taking a chance on bringing this rtr turbine to market.

Considering that the are doing a second run,it would appear that the model sold very well.

has anybody who purchased the turbine had problems with derailments, none of the on-line reviews have mentioned this problem.

I assumed my track was a problem,I admit my track is not the best, but attending a train show the other week I noticed a turbine was kicked off a layout because it kept derailing

the problem happens to me mostly on curves which are at least 30 inch radius or more and the track is less than super level.

A friend of mine suggested the centre axle of the trucks should have had some play in it ,so the truck could handle rough track without the centre axle lifting and derailing the leading axle.

Any suggestions?

I read that UP wanted to use the Turbines on the west coast with the SP, but since they were so loud, they were banned from operating into Los Angeles.

The turbines were used primarily between Ogden and Utah, and possibly Nevada.

Anyone who is an UP Fan can provide some more insight on this.

One of our A unit derailed on a #6 switch one time.  Anything is possible but the hoses between the A and B units might be the problem.  They run very well overall and pull like a draft horse.   Some minor adjustments on any new model is always a possibility but they do run extremely well.

They are worth the money

I would check your track, by your own admission the track is not that good.

I have seen the scale trains turbine run around 22" radius without any problems on a buddy's layout so unless your turbine has a problem I would look at your track again.

The most important thing you can do for a smooth running layout is to take your time and lay your track with utmost care.

Check the sander line routing. They project down where they could snag the truck just enough to cause problems. Gently adjust.
