Well I suspect the folks on the Classic Toy Trains part of these forums would know more, and wax more rhapsosic, about those images than those of us on the scale model railroading part of the Forums.
But that cross hatched box was exactly what I saw when I was age 5 or maybe 6 one Christmas morning and got the gift of my dreams, a Lionel train set, that I loved for years and dearly wish I had not sold as a teen who disdained "toys."
Of course as a boy I did not know then that it was just about the cheapest (in every way) thing that Lionel offered. All I knew at age 5 is that it was wonderful.
Here is what I got: http://train-station.com/cgi-bin/shop.pl/page=PW-1542.html/SID=2384886723
Suffice to say here that having any old Lionel trains IN THE ORIGINAL BOX is what makes collectors salivate. So either enjoy the trains, or look for a buyer with deep pockets.
