Or the same ones that make me manually log back in if I switch from desktop to laptop or vice-versa, never mind that both are set for automatic log in via Kalmbach's cookies.

Definitely the same, I just call it MR because I usually get there through the Resources link at the top right corner of the page here. Out on the 'net, you're correct it's called the Trains index.

I think we are talking about the same index. I used the term Trains Index only because that is what I understand the formal name to be. It's the one that indexes all the model railroad mags, past and present, including the non-Kalmbach publications.
Not tried the Trains Index, but seems to be the same issue I've run into trying to use the MR index in recent weeks. Just tried again and it's the same. Wish this would get fixed as this is a major resource, as well as drawing users to the Kalmbach website from elsewhere.
Anyone else having problems with the magazine index? It tells me I am not logged in when I am actually logged in here. Then it tells me I need an account and sends me to a contact customer service page when I say that I am a magazine subscriber.
Do I need a separate account with a different email address? This should be simple. Something seems very wrong with this process. I tried a different brower with the same results.

Just found out I can use the Trains railroad map search with no issues.
