#82 is a Liliput model of the Austrian Gemeinder D75 (520 kw) diesel used on the Zillerthalbahn and perhaps other 760mm (30") lines. Here's a proto pic:

To convert to HOn3, buy the 12mm/HOm conversion kit (about $25) and narrow the wheelsets. If you get another one of those, you could then have a loco that runs on three different gauges (HOn30, HOn3, and HOm) by simply changing out the wheelsets. I've got a writeup around on this I'll try to dig up a link to.

The paint is mine. It's a powerful little loco and the lighting is nice. I hope to eventually add sound, but it has a very nice Lenz decoder for now.
The video starts with a still pic of #82's new "auto-uncouple" coupler, really simply a modified dummy off of Sunset K-36 #480 (my other adventure of the week) that I converted to a working front coupler. I mounted it on a drawbar, then on the front of #82 after grinding off part of the coupler jaw so it could push, but not lock into another coupler.
It's due for paint now that it's been tested and proven. The video was actually the first run with it up the hill, so seems to work OK. Here she is in tourist season, when the work is a little more glorious.
Bear, Thanks for the WPF start. Nice MOW shot and befitting Labour Day, trains wouldn't be rolling for long without the work of the maintenace crew.

I included a Sinclair station on my layout just to help set the era (1956). Sinclair merged with Atlantic Richfield (ARCO) in 1969. I loved the dinosaur logo.
I also put an Esso station elsewhere on the layout.
One of these days I'm going to fix or replace my digital camera so I can post some pictures.

During the last build the labor force was getting rather tired of upper management's constant visits. Being the 25th locomotive to bet put in the current roster from the Locomotive Works they felt the need to try an micromanage the landmark project, even though the team on the erecting floor was well experienced for the job. Here is a higher up taking a photo op of the nearly complete engine.

Thanks for kick-starting another WPF, Bear! In the Great Lakes area of North America it is beginning to look like some good Model Railroad weather is here. Cool and rainy. Quite a contrast to last weekends sunny and 82°F!
I have always admired the work trains of the unsung heros, the gandy dancers, with all the tools-of-the-trade on board. Sometimes those M-of-W trains would go out for months on end to the farthest reaches of the line. Interesting stuff!
Your scenes are superb, as usual, Mike! I see a new detail every time I look at the photos. Excellent video, as well
A good deal of my progress this week does not lend itself too well to photos. WIRING work But I'm getting near the end of the project and I can hang up the soldering iron for a few weeks!
I am pretty thrilled to be able to have the Presidential car U.S. No.1 on my roster:
Not a very good photo, but you can see Clementine and Winston Churchill on the left. The Pullman Porter, and seated, Eleanor and Franklin Roosevelt. Mr. President seems more interested in the action on the adjacent track
The Churchills visited the U.S. in December of '41 and rode the Ferdinand Magellan to Hyde Park for a little R&R.

Happy Labour Day, one that is always well-earned every year.
Good news, the 480 is back up on her drivers. I gave her another 3 hours of work this evening and finally got the chip picked out of her driver insulation. I'm still doing minor adjustments, but she should be back in service soon.
Speaking of MOW trains, I took the wrecker train out for the annual clearance check. Here's a pic on the Rio de las Animas bridge.
