Quite a few new and unique offerings they have coming! Im particularly interested in the ATSF Mikado. Curious to know what their time frames are for release. I do recall some long waits in the past, especially with the ATSF 2-10-2, but they seem to be getting better.

These times are really good (or costly!) for C&O steam fans: MTH released the Allegheny and now BLI is coming up with the streamlined Hudson, the Greenbrier and an upgraded re-relase of the Texas! Time to dig deep into the pockets for all that fancy C&O steam! The C&O is by far my favorite eastern road, so I defintely would go for these engines IF I had more money and if I wouldn´t restrict myself to my (south)western theme...

Slowly NP steam fans are being treated nicely as well: Athearn will produce the Challenger and now BLI is coming with the A-3 Northern (which is the best looking of all the A series sub classes in my opinion)! Those good old Rivarossi smooth side NP cars are still well around, so this brings me into serious consideration of letting a northwestern train invade my southwestern theme by putting together a nice 1948 steam powered Pine Tree NCL...damn!

I´m a bit surprised about the streamlined PRR K4 as I heard some rumours popping up now and then that the S-1 giant is in the making...but I guess it won´t be able to operate on most layouts due to its hugeness, so they better turned their focus to the K4. I guess those guys owning a 1938 Broadway Limited set by Challenger Imports will feel very lucky with this model if it manages to pull it!

Some surprises here. The L1s Mike in C&I and Interstate will appeal to a certain niche market. Tha Santa Fe Mike is almost guaranteed to be popular. Being smaller than the 2-10-2, it will be more comfortable on smaller AT&SF layouts. The NP and C&O 4-8-4's are sure to be popular, and the UP 4-6-6-4 will certainly find a market. The streamlined C&O 4-6-4 and PRR K4s will certainly appeal to the collectors. The PRR P5 will also find a ready market, and purchasers will want to see a followup streamlined version. I was expecting to see a PRR BLW BP20 diesel. Maybe in 2018.

Unfortunately, I will have to do some serious picking and choosing & won't be able to afford all I want.

I'm excited about the P5a boxcabs in particular. I may go for the model of C&O 614 when it arrives.

Broadway's 2017 Catalog: New Offerings

I stumbled across Broadway Limited's 2017 Catalog quite by accident while looking for some unrelated BLI info.

It sure seems like BLI is taking a low key approach to new product announcements. Remember the C&O L-1 Hudson?

The latest catalog:

http://www.broadway-limited2.com/ProductGuide2016-17/

Shows lots of neat stuff for the PRR fan! A streamlined K4s 3768, a P5a box cab, and the return of the GG1 (I thought MTH picked up that tooling in the litigation settlement?) tank cars... Santa Fe Mikes!

Give the site a little time to load the catalog.

Motorized Pantographs? Sleep

I am supposedly signed up to recieve notifications by email from Broadway but all I ever see are when additions are made to the Refurb Warehouse. If I hadn't stumbled upon this catalog I might not have known about these new products...

Curious,

Ed
