Anyone know if part #84026 (12 pack) contains screws?  The picture suggests it does not.  That tells me these are still the press in kind?  I was under the impression they only make the screw in kind now.  Just making sure before I purchase.  Thanks!

Lion:

With respect, the OP was pretty clear about not wanting to go the silicone route.

He said "No Caulk".  Silicone is not the same as plain caulk. I would never use that. Silicone is easily removed if necessary.

Thank you all for your suggestions and information links. I did find the black plastic mounts with screws at my local Portland, OR hobby shop, Hobby Smith. I just hadn't realized Athearn had developed a better product. Again thanks.

You don't need any stinkin motor mounts...

Just correctly set the motor on a glob of silicone and let it set. Even NWSL suggests this as a possibility.

If it does not turn out correctly, after it is dried, pull it out, clean it off and try again.

I'm in there with penncentral, and mel.  I've replaced many.  If you buy from Ebay, buy the black ones.  The white ones are old, and will be brittle.

Caboose hobbies *did* have some, that's where I got my last package. MBKline had some at one point as well. Don't overlook the larger online retailers, Walthers is not the only one around.

Athearn themselves would surely have them, and, if you have any train shows upcoming near by they will most likely be someone there selling some as well. Last one I attended there was 6 packages available.

What he said above.

New ones will be black plastic and have screw holes in them as well.

Also, I've found that several of my Atheran BB motors did not sit flat and contacted the frame leading to weird drive angles on end only.

I do not know if this was a machining issue on some only or a larger problem.  Die grinder fixes it quick though.

Athearn motor mounts
Posted by Capt. Brigg on Sunday, August 21, 2016 3:40 PM

I have several older Athearn blue box engines that the plastic motor mount has hardened and broken allowing the motor to bounce around. I have searched Walthers & several dealers and cannot find a source for replacement Athearn motor mounts. I have an engine that someone used caulk to anchor the motor, but getting it out of the caulk to add wiring for DCC was a hassle and I'd rather not use that method again. Any suggestions will be greatly appreciated. Capt. Brigg Pacific Cascade Railway in HO gauge
