SD60: My day just skyrocketed in goodness

Well, I received my Proto 2000 BN SD60 today. For someone who has only had Athearn's, the detail on this locomotive is just outstanding. I can't wait to test it on my layout. Unfortunately, I will have to wait a week or two. I can say, however, I am only expecting the best. I will add pics as soon as they are uploaded. I am really happy with this purchase. And for only $58...

Good for you. I've got one of those P2k SD-60s in UP paint. In my group of modern diesels I don't use anymore. Silent as a church mouse. And could pull anything anywhere. You should be happy with it.

I had a moment of rapture myself last night. I spent a few hours fastening the handrails and grabirons onto a Kato SD70MAC, grumbling about 'why can't they have them pre-installed like P2K, yada, yada...' Never mind that, I still prefer the smooth-running Kato mechanism over anything else.

Then it came time to run it on my test track and... what's this I see?... operating ditch lights!

I agree about the new Athearns though, they are beautiful machines for their price range.

To bad they don't run with anything else and sideframes are to small and stick out to far. Sold all my likelikes and will be getting Athearns.
