the CPR Holiday Train is fabulous - it arrives in Salmon Arm, BC on Dec 17th at 8:30 pm.
Our Model RR club assists every year by volunteering as security / crowd control for the event - which includes a short concert (approx 40 minutes) - we have a blast !!! The community and my kids love it... about 2000 people attended last year.

this year the CPR Holiday Train has a mini-concert with the Moffats and the Ennis Sisters among others
enjoy it...

cheers, krump

I have seen many photos of the train, I wonder if it will ever make it all the east to NS.

I've seen it in Scranton twice (once last year, and once this year).

No train east of Quebec, 37 stops in northern U.S. and all of southern western Canada.

further thot -
I believe that there are actually 2 (more ?) Holiday Trains - one across Canada, and one through the USA...
the one through Canada is fundraising for community Food Banks - so it's fun with a purpose.

cheers, krump

had a LOOOOOOOOOONNNG look at the Holiday Train last night (Fri) as it was in Salmon Arm (overnight) - our Model RR club provides additional crowd control / security, so I was busy with that... and in our community there were probably close to 2500 people in the crowd - not a bad gathering at all. Food Bank donations were terrific...

the Holiday Train had an unexpected extended stay here though - and is probably now approximately one day behind schedule.
THE REASON ???
another freight train DERAILED a couple of cars up the track about 5-6 miles (due to vandalism ???), shutting everything down until this afternoon. I'm told that about 2 miles of rail had to be checked and repaired... approx 18 hr delay was anticipated. I saw the trains running through town again this afternoon so I guess the line is back in operation.
made for an interesting evening

cheers, krump
