YES!  It is a press fit, and a darned good one.   I could not find a seam and tried to separate the usual way but could not do it.  Then I took a screwdriver and GENTLY pried in the area where the wiring harness protrudes........... and it slide right off.

Thank you!

My earlier Paragon series were just lift-offs.  No tabs, but you may have to remove a screw or two below...probably not, and it's quite likely you will have to remove a grab iron or more.  At least, that was the case for my Paragon Niagara 4-8-4.  Get a knife-edge between the frame sill and the bottom of the tender shell and pry gently.  It might pop off that way.

Got a BLI Paragon 2 ATSF "modernized" 2-10-2 this week.  The thing is really nice (as are my other BLI locos), and this one has the smoke unit.

The sounds are terrific, and out of curiousity I'd like to open the tender to peek inside.  Even with the blow up parts diagram, I can't figure out how to do it.   And of course I don't want to go about it incorrectly, cause that's how things get broken.  Can you guide me along?

Thanks!
