Anyone from Oklahoma out there?
Posted by Anonymous on Wednesday, December 1, 2004 1:18 PM
Is there anyone else from Oklahoma out there, or am I the only one? Just wondering how many of us there were on here. I am from Calumet, about 50 miles west of the city (we now have a blacktop road to our house[:D]) I'm pretty sure there isn't anyone else from this town, but maybe someone in the area? I'd be glad to know where you're from![8D]

No, there is no one left in Oklahoma, you are the only one, but I knew a guy from Oklahoma once, but he moved to Guam. see, they built that road just for you. Does someone from a neighboring state count??

'Nother one.

I'm in Porum ( Southern Muskogee County about 60 miles SE of Tulsa ) roughly a mile & a half from the abandoned Midland Valley ROW on a very rural county dirt road.

Been thru Calumet, 20+ years ago when I lived in OKC (Yukon).

tatans: Yeah, neighbors are alright too, as long as they're not [:D][:D]TEXANS[:D][:D].

Wow! You've actually been to Calumet! Not many people can make that claim[:D]. I know a few Yukonites, there's a bunch of people there now though, way too many to keep up with[:P].

train nut: you're right about Rock Island, I would love to have a couple of their trains on my layout, but for some unknow reason I ended up with mostly SF and BNSF. I was about your age when I really got going good on my layout, and I'm almost seventeen now. The layout still isn't completely done, but at least I can run trains on it. Are you going to the OKC train show this weekend? I hope I can go, it is always a learning experience, and a good chance to buy railstuff.

Tulsa here, I'm sure there are more Oakie folks into model railroading than we think. I was raised in Kansas City, Mo. for eleven years, then moved back to Tulsa to stay through college years. Tulsa was a little dissapoining after all the railroad action in K.C., Mo. There were over 100 passenger trains a day through Union Station. The "bottoms" hosted every major packing plant with attendant freight operations. Tulsa retained only 4 passenger trains a day (Santa Fe and Frisco). The Katy had discontinued passenger (The Fire Fly) service to Tulsa before we returned from K.C. The Frisco (St.L& S.F.) operated a large "hump" yard (gravity) in West Tulsa which offered many photo opportunities. Hope all is well in Calumet.
