Modeling BNSF and Milwaukee Road in SW Wisconsin
I have to assume you are not using the solvent stuff for wood.
I use to use MEK and decant some into a small bottle. A little styrene, plastic might come back with the tiny brush I use. Never an issue.
It only evaporates if not tightly sealed.

If you ever fall over in public, pick yourself up and say “sorry it’s been a while since I inhabited a body.” And just walk away.
Every time you dip your brush in the solvent, you contaminate it a bit from the material you are working on, that being said you would end up with a solid at some point after enough evaporation but if it is still liquide it should still have some bite. I have my reservations about the same stuff being the same as pro-weld (going to miss that stuff), as it would work with more than styrene.
Liquid cements are volatile, and will evaporate over time. If it has changed color, I would suspect something has gone bad.

My Plastruct Plastic Weld from pre 1999 is clear but with just a tiny shade of yellow. The price was $2.75

hon30critter UNCLEBUTCH: What materials are you trying to glue? Dave part from old buildings for a kitbash, tyco and bachmann. sometimes, the joint will soften but not weld, other times nothing atall. I'll toss what little is left and get a new bottle, I was just wondering why

What materials are you trying to glue?

Don´t really know. I have some plastic cement I bought 10+ years ago and I am still using it.
I'm just a dude with a bad back having a lot of fun with model trains, and finally building a layout!
I have a bottle of ''same stuff'' a little less then 1/4 , milky in color, that seams to have lost it's ump. Been working with wood for quite a while so can't remember how long its sat there. I don't have a new bottle to compaire it to.
Is it possible that its contaminated with ? I would have thought it would just evaporate in stead. Or is there a problem persay with the material i'm trying to glue. What do you think ?
