If there still is a rep for Hornby/Rivarossi in the USA, I did ask for replacement mechanical lubricator arms, teensy little metal slivers they are, and the gentleman sent me two, free of charge, taped to the back of his business card. This was four years ago.
If you have trouble with a google search, speak up and I'll go find the card. I know where it is.
Is it not possible to order new from th Rivarossi USA web site?
Thanks for the reply and advice. Was it a difficult job installing them. I am a bit leary of dismantling the running gear and then trying the reinstall. I would be happy to hear back from you about that. Thanks Robert
I had the same problem with my Rivarossi Allegheny, but instead of looking for new traction tires, I filled in the depression in the drivers with Bullfrog Snot, using a small micro-brush. It dried to a very even coating--no bumps at all. I've had the Snot on there for the past 3 months and it's been working perfectly. One thing, if you decide to use the Bullfrog Snot, make sure you let it cure-dry for 12-16 hours.

I tried to use CA liquid cement on my Athearn Challenger and it created a bumpy tire and then the tire ripped itself in two when it couldn't stretch. I replaced it with Athearn tires and decided not to try anything that will prevent it from moving/stretching/rotating. I have a Rivarossi Big Boy as well and never had issues with its tires but I wish they would leave them off or offer solid driver sets to replace them as some (BLI comes to mind) manufacturers do. I like the idea of using a smaller diameter tire to make a tighter fit and it sounds like it would work.

Life is what happens while you are making other plans!
I've used Calumet traction tires on Rivarossi steam before. They sell an assortment pack to fit a number of wheel sizes. I've found they work best when you pick one a size under, slowly stretch it out (just enough that it'll still be tight), and then fit it to the wheel. Whenever I tried using one that was the "correct" size, it would be too thick and make for a bumpy ride.

I have had recent problems with the traction tires coming off. I tried to silicone them back on but they came off again. I would like to replace them with new ones. Has anyone done this. I would sure appreciate any info on how to go about it. Thanks
