I do get the link from Photobucket but have no way to insert it unless I copy and paste it right in the form and that doesn't work.

from the How to Post a Photo to the Forums thread

Step 5: Insert your picture. Click the "Insert/edit image" button above the message window. It looks like a picture of a mountain and the sun. Click it and paste the image URL you copied into the "Source" box in the window that comes up. Then click OK. Repeat and add text as necessary. Then post as usual.

Lion: I "ditched" I.E. once and used Firefox and found out that my employer's website and potential employers' websites were not compatible (including CSX). I switched back and forth and finally decided it wasn't worth it. I can't say if its the browser in this scenario.

Just the other day, Tom Stage mentioned that he could not add a quote to a reply. I thought, well at least I'm not having that problem... sure enough—a few days later and I went to reply to a post and my dialog box for replying had an entirely different looking interface and I also could not add a quote. The button was there but did not function at all.

Reminds me of the old PC haiku, Ed:

Yesterday it worked

Today it is not working

Windows is like that

Thankfully, I've learned the work-around on the days the forum software is misbehaving by adding the [quote user="gmpullman"] and /quote (in brackets) when I need to add a quote.  Sometimes the "Insert/edit link" feature acts up and doesn't always create a proper hyperlink.  Guess I can't really complain when it's free...

Victor,

Make sure Your Java script is up to date....I still use Windows XP and don't have any problem's. I just copy and paste, press enter and then when I press Submit reply at bottom of post, the image appears. Don't have to use any of the insert or other links at the top of post.

When MRR starting using the new format...I had some problem's...but it was not Me.....MRR's Java script was not up to date.

Java should be....platform 1.8  product 1.8.0_66 if current.

Also make sure ''cookie's'' is enabled for this site.

Take Care! Big Smile

Ditch Internet Explorer, and switch to the latest version of Firefox.

Windows 10 also ditches IE in favor of a new thing to becalled Microsoft Edge.

And we know how well the last thing named ME worked.

It looks like the forum IT team is making "adjustments" again. Remember two years ago when the new format rolled out and everything was haywire for several weeks (months!).

So far, for me, linking photos and videos has been working OK. As Randy said, wait a day or two and it will change to a different problem on a different browser.

Good Luck, Ed

Lion:

I do get the link from Photobucket but have no way to insert it unless I copy and paste it right in the form and that doesn't work. I could provide a screen shot of my editor that does not include an insert option but obviously can't do that. I am still with Windows 8 and there is nothing unstandard with my browser or computer settings. I have not been able to edit my profile for a long time either.

Oh well, LION was just testing. When you open the picture dialog, you need enter a valid url such as     http://broadwaylion.com/lion/yawn-3.jpg   which by itself in this forum creates a link that can be clicked. If the host that you are using to place your photos does not give you a link that looks like the one above it will not work here. Look for a link that is a valid URL.

No, this forum software continues to have issues with various browsers. In IE, if the site is not listed under compatibility view, you can add it, and the options will show up - for a little while. Then you need to take it out of compatibility view and it again works for a little while. You can try another browser, and the same sort of thing will happen, sometimes the photo and video insert options will show up and somethimes they won't. I wish they'd just turn bbcode back on, then all you have to do is put , post the url of your picture, and then at then end and it works fine regardless of whether or not you can see the image insert buttons in the editor toolbar. I think the real reason it does not show is that it gets blocked by the various browsers attempting to protect you from malicious scripts, since it also seems to help to add the site to trusted sites which typically lowers the security restrictions - but that's not really a good solution from a security standpoint.

Rich Text Editor?
Posted by wabash2800 on Friday, November 20, 2015 10:33 AM

I have my photos on Photobucket but don't get the Rich Text Editor to insert photos here when I reply or start a thread. I do get an editor but not with an insert, etc. Am I missing something?
