I have a Kaslo SDL-39. It was a mostly enjoyable build. People complain about the drive and it is a sensitive little beast, but once dialed in mine runs rather well. It is, even after stuffing weight just about everywhere, a rather light-footed unit. In it's natural habitat, probably not too big an issue, but mine roams the mountains...

I'd bet a non-resin version could be heavier and more satisfying.

An SDL-39 model would be a great choice. Though limited to roads it's a popular engine. As a freelancer I'm in line!

I was at the Twin Cities Division meet last night in St Paul. I was aware that Athearn was going to produce SD39's in HO, but someone mentioned that Fox Valley Models was going to do the SDL39... Just rumor mill stuff? Maybe an announcement at Trainfest... Jim
