Weekend Photo Fun 13-15 November 2015.

Gidday All, yes it’s that time again ffolkes! Time flies when you’re having fun, supposedly!Hmm
“Hope you're finding some time to work on your car ferry.
Alas Peter, the car ferry project is stagnating at present. The Club is having an open day next weekend, but sadly apart from the Hornby Dublo two and three rail layout the rest have been neglected and need a massive titivation electrically and scenically. (It’s surprising how something simple like a good going over with a vacuum cleaner can spruce things up).
I have very quickly remembered why I  left the Club and I wonder if, once again, I’m being a Mug but one of my fellow “exiles” summed it up the other night by saying he had missed the “fellowship of like minded modellers.”  While this forum satisfies most of my needs, I know where he’s coming from.
Anyhow a recent photo from the Club....

Looking forward to the really Good Stuff,
Have a Great One fflokes,
Cheers, the Bear.Smile

Bear ... Thank you for starting Weekend Photo Fun. I like the NYC E7 on the club layout there.

It's still Thursday evening here, but here is my photo. It is a GN F7 AB set made by Intermountain. I built the two piggyback tractor trailer trucks and painted them.

Great pics, guys!

George, what's the origin of the streetsweeper? Very cool model.

Not much new here, but here's a shot of my pig ramp in Durango...

Good morning all from windy and cool Northeast Ohio!

Bear, thanks for starting and another awesome club picture.

Garry, nice scene, but especially like that GN Trailer!

George, also like that streetsweeper!

Mike, Piggybacks are always welcome and make for great models.

Michael, You can keep your snow in Denver (Although I did live there for 4 years).

Casey, Nice Diaroma for your beautiful steam engines!

I managed to get a couple of cars done this week!

IMWX 1937 AAR Boxcar Kit, substituted Yarmouth Model Works Sill Steps for the cast plastic sill steps of the kit. Painted with Scalecoat II Boxcar Red and lettered with Champ Decals.

Atlas 4650CF Covered Hopper as a standin for the EL 4460CF Covered Hopper, the length was the same, but the car was shorter than the standard 4650.  Painted the car with Scalecoat II MofW Gray and lettered with Herald King Decals.

And a shot taken at the Strongsville Model Railroad club in Strongsville, OH.

Pennsy N1s hauling a mixture of H21, H22 and Gla Hopper Cars.

Thanks for looking!

Great photos since I was here last night!

George. ... The street sweeper looks great, but I'm more impressed with the caboose service platform. That is a nice item to include in a terminal, and I don't recall seeing one modeled before.

Mike L ... I like your Pig Ramp. It would be fun watching the circus style loading and unloading of pig flat cars.

Michael .. Great scene, but I'm not ready for winter. At least not outside.

Casey ... I enjoy seeing your locomotives, and your scenery is coming along very well.

Rick .. Thanks for commenting about my photo. I like the 2 freight cars. In particular, the MNS boxcar looks good to me... Looks like a beautiful club layout.

TX Terry ... I hope the layout tour goes well!

IN response to the questions above...

The street sweeper is a metal kit from JL Innovative. Not a difficult builld, very little flash to file off and fits together well. The curved hood needs to be bent to shape; just use a side piece as a guide to the correct curve. The City of Portland logo on the side is a home made decal.

The caboose servicing platform is CG Laser. The laser cut parts fit together well, but some of the small parts, like the posts and railings are a bit fidlelly to install. They include a nice jig, also laser cut, to build the stairs - makes that part easy

All the track is wired and working on the new layout so I have finally been able to run trains again.  Even started a bit of base scenery.

Still a long ways to go, but I am feeling a lot less rushed now that I can run a local and switch customers again.

Bear, Thanks for getting the WPF started up.  Sometimes I stray into the modeling doldrums, but WPF always adds wind to my sails.

Enjoying a plastic structure kit build, the Walthers Northern Light & Power.

Bear, thanks for starting things off again this week. Good shot of the NYC E7s.

Garry, great urban scene. Love the GN loco and trailer.

George, I don't believe I've ever seen a caboose servicing area. A good addition to any layout I think.

Mike, like the piggy-backs. I have a couple of p-b cars somewhere.

Michael, nice winter scene. Too early for that though.

Casey, nice group of locos. Good photos too.

Rich, great mountain scene.

Terry, good luck with the tours. Great scenery and details.

Hobbez, like the colorful B&A locos.

Fritz, great pic of the GP9(s).

Velo, good start to the power company building. I'm toying with the idea of switching out one of the major structures on my layout with that structure.

Here is one from the BRVRR:

NYC F7 #1821 at the head of a mixed freight passes Black River Station and NYC RDC #53 as it proceeds westbound.

Keep the photos and ideas coming guys. Thanks to you WPF is always the best thread of the week.

Edit: Can't believe I forgot to insert the photo. Sorry guys.

When I added LEDs to my On3 engines last year,I was unable to find enough MV Products lenses for all of them,so three were left like this:

Last week I was in Caboose Hobbies, and found the lenses I needed to finish the job. Now,whether they're on or off, they look a lot closer to the real thing.

'Also added coal loads, and changed out the 462's 1" speaker for a 1.57".

It was fun to knock out a few quick, easy(and inexpensive)jobs that made a big difference.

Have a good weekend, and thanks to all the contributors for taking my mind off the world's troubles for a bit.

As always the worik in this thread inspires me!

I have been doing more riveting on the Girder Bridge...  First half of Girder bridge that is.  I have both main girders on this half finished with the rivets as I am going to do.  I am not going to place rivet details where no one will ever be able to see them! LOL

And the other side...

Just the underside left to do on this half.  (I will do the rivets on the girder top and bottom when the two halves of the bridge are joined).

Heartland Division CB&Q
It's still Thursday evening here

Honestly it was late Friday afternoon and I had finished work,Angel actually we’ve recently put the clock forward for daylight saving and have the clocks gone back in the States? Because I see I’m now 19 hours ahead of US Central Time instead of 17.
Along with your tractor and trailer units Garry, and Mikes TOFC shot you’ve both reminded me of another “to do someday” item. I don’t think I’ll ever run out of hobby things to do.
George, that street sweeper is another nice little detail and what’s the purpose of the high platform on the caboose serving unit? Unless it’s for easier cleaning of the cupola windows?
You can keep your winter scenes thank you very much Michael. Smile
RDGCasey, your trains, especially the locomotives, have always impressed me, and I’m also partial to a polished wooden floor, but that short video really makes everything “POP”!
Rick once again you’re increasing my knowledge; I now know there was a Minneapolis, Northfield and Southern Railroad! Nice shot of the “esses” on the club layout.
Hope the preparation for the layout tour goes well Terry. At least your videos allow me to visit in kind,
A nice atmospheric shot there pt714.
Might still have a Long ways to go Hobbez, but it certainly looks a great start.
Nice shot of the Wabash units Fritz.
Another warehouse Peter, or is it going to represent its stated purpose?
Not sure if it’s my server playing up again Allan but I don’t see your photo. That said I can still see Black River Valley RR action on your site.
Hmm Getting a project finished, now that’s an unusual thought. Good stuff there middleman Mike.
“I am not going to place rivet details where no one will ever be able to see them! It may be practical Ray, but isn’t that cheating!!!Smile, Wink & GrinLaugh
Thanks to all the contributors for helping me keep equilibrium.Thumbs Up
Cheers, the Bear.Smile

The photo is in place now though.

The kit instructions do not say the purpose of the high platform, but I assume that it gives access to the caboose roof. The height is about right; there is a hinged platform that would fold down to make a bridge. It is fixed in place on the model.
