Engine repair
Posted by Anonymous on Wednesday, November 24, 2004 1:16 PM
Just now getting into Model Railroading and I've been given 7 very nice engines but none of them work. I love to tinker and would like to learn how to repair them. Anybody know of a school or training that I can attend on repairing trains?[:D]

Probably one of your best sources for info is at your local hobby shop if you have a local shop.Ask the owner or if there is a service dept, also ask the other customers. There are several books on maintence and repair. If you understand the basic/ transfomer powers the track, wheels pick up the power, leads transfer the power to the motor.

Try MR 100 and Welcome aboard.
What's the scale?
Manufacturer?
Diesel & wheel configuration?
Steam & wheel configuration?
Track; Brass or nickel silver?
Type of power pack & electrical ratings?
Power pick ups; are they brass or nickel silver?
Could have a deadly case of oxidation degratgation on some of them.
