What's the source of your etched brass cab or did you do that work yourself? There used to be company called Mellor that made etched brass parts (including cabs IIRC), but Harold Mellor died a few years back and the company no longer exists. There also used to be an outfit called Altoona Works or something like that that made etched parts, but I think they're gone too.

Thanks, glad you like it.

That is indeed 472, which is the Bachmann 2-8-0 Iain converted into a CV N-5a for me (and for an MR article -- November or October of 2000 I believe).

Since then, I've built another engine using many of the same techniques (I used an etched brass cab, though, it was a lot easier than the way Iain did it!) based on 468, and 474 is well along.

Just completed my contol pannel woodwork. I will have two cabs, switch control and block controls with my tack diagram in center. Now off to begin wiring:

Thanks for the compliments, most of the buildings are weathered, however I need to add updated photos to my layout page on my site. As for the track, I'm not brave enough yet due to the fact that I use DCC and it's pretty touchy when it comes to track cleanlyness.

This panorama is fresh from the construction zone. After a long summer of chasing trains and doing other stuff, I am kicking it into gear again. The third peninsula, on the left of the photo, is now 18' out from the wall. A trip to the lumber yard is going to be required fairly soon. The benchwork is now about 70% done.

A little bit of track has been laid along the long wall, leading away from the helix in the corner on the right.



Here is the track plan to give you an idea of how the room is laid out. There have been some minor changes.

I think it's a pretty good idea to share your layout on line. The problem for me is that I'm just getting started laying track AND I need to learn how to put pics on the computer. My wife should be helpful there. But my layout is going to be the boring track on homosote shots for now although I've progressed further in two years in this house than I did in 9 years in the last house. I'll see what I can embarrass myself with here in the near future.
