remote control engines

Hi all I have an idea to make my engines remote control thus doing away with track power. I have 3 scales of equipment n,ho and 027. I have been running nitro and electric 1./10 and 1/8 scale trucks for the last few years. I had thought about using an electronic speed control and reciever transmitter setup with a lipoly battery. i know space could some cause problems on the smaller stuff.
Here is my main concern. On my rc trucks radio interferance is a big porblem. Do you guys think the metal wheels and steel rail would make radio signals.
