 Evening Dinners

Flo, Beer please and turn up the A/C.

Work, another slow day, only 4 customers and I sold a Futon Set for $904.00 and that was it. Dave was a little slow as well. Told me 5 times about breaking a Craftsman Breaker Bar he broke that he owned for 20 years and how Sears replaced it for free? Little hostail for about a half hour then he was OK.

Got the backyard cut before work. Had the front yard cut last Thursday by a kid down the street. So no grass cutting on my day's off. Yes But that does not mean there is no Yard Work.Sigh Get to play Kill The Vines again. I rather have posion ivy problems that Wild Grape Vine Problems!

Gary Thanks for the tip, I will stop by Harbor Freight and see if they still have Dental Picks. I know they are handy working with O-Rings. I don't think there is anything making them bind up but something is making the odd sound.

Hi all,

I'd love a egg, cheese, and sausage buiscuit with coffee. Lots of cream for the coffee please :)

Many hopes all have a good week this upcoming week.

I'm working a lot of odd-jobs and I'm willing to travel for them, obviously if the pay is right. This weekend, I picked up some work in Northern Virginia (I'm from there) and my dad informed me that N&W 611 would be doing trips between the towns of Manassas and Front Royal. To say I'd been excited would be an understatement! I've wanted to see 611 with my own eyes since the early 90s. So not only did I get to see it in real life, vs. just pictures and videos, I got to see it under steam! I saw 611 twice on Saturday, and alas had to be in Lancaster yesterday as I had work all day. Having seen a powerful loco like 611 in action is an experience I hope everyone gets to check out. My dad, who's not nearly the train fan I am, had been impressed. Seeing it in action has made me wish I'd not sold my BLI models of 611 and aux. tender. Ah well, I'll have to track those down again sometime.

On a completely different note, I called about getting a job with an old employer to work in a group-home for adults with disabilities. They're apparently happy I want to come back, so hopefully that shall work out. It will not start for a bit, so it'll be time to enjoy the warm weather, and go camping, hiking, swimming etc.

Good Morning Diners,

Flo, I'll have my usual humongousoid cup of coffee with extra generous amounts of cream, please.

Nothing specific to report today.  Ah, the start of a new work week.  Time to get back into the old grind of trying to be productive after a seemingly all too short weekend.

Am I to assume that N&W 611 is the restored 4-8-4 that they have?

When the railroads started doing that, it has turned out to be worth the expense just from the promotional value alone.  The fan trips, etc. have generated a lot of interest and the railroads have benefited from it.

My jalapeño plants seem to be doing ok.

Well, gotta get lunch ready and off to work.

i hope everyone is OK and safe.

Less is more,...more or less!

Another day.  Good morning, all.

Last week my weight was 199.  This week it's 209.  I really need to get a new bathroom scale.  When I was working, I weighed in every week on an old mechanical balance-beam scale.  My weight followed a nice, smooth and mostly descending line.  Now, I've got this high-tech thing with a liquid crystal display that bounces my weight around by 10 pounds from week to week.  Yeah, I had a nice steak dinner last night, but I also put about 30 miles on my bicycle so I earned my meal.

It was not the best of bike rides, though.  I took a different route to avoid some road construction.  When I got to Concord Center, where I usually stop to fill my water bottle at the fountain and chat with other bikers doing the same....no water bottle.  I'd left it back at a previous stop, 7 miles or so back.  I was feeling good so I rode back to get it.  I found the bottle and then headed home, but I hit a bump and my bike pump came loose.  I pulled over to the side of the road, but I couldn't get out of my clips fast enough and down I went, a low-speed fall reminiscent of Artie Johnson on Laugh-In.  I rode home on a slightly twisted wheel that I'll have to tweek before I ride that bike again.

I've ordered a set of 3 "company houses" from City Classics.  They will sit on top of the scenic cover for the staging tracks.  I need them to get me off my duff on this project.

It takes an iron man to play with a toy iron horse.

Afternoon, Felleas!

PT was an ordeal today, so I went straight to bed after lunch and slept for more than 3 hours! I don´t feel refreshed, but as long as I continue to believe it´ll do me good, I don´t mind the "workout". Can´t say I  see any difference yet, but it´s to early along the rocky road to tell.

My friend didn´t bring the layout back to me yeaterday, but he called. He needs more time to do a few things. He did not want to tell me which things, so I guess I´ll be in for a surprise.

Bama - good to see you again. 4 kids? Wow!

Flo, coffee in my SWOK mug and a handful of those chocolate chippers, please. I´ll be in the corner booth, resting my aching boday for  a while.

Morning yall. Just a tall glass of ice water as I'm waiting on parts here at w**k. Will be here until 530 this evening, so I've still got several hours ahead of me.
Ulrich, yes I have 4, and they keep me very busy, but I wouldn't trade it for anything. Yesterday while working on everything, Michael, my son, kept asking if my trains were "broken down". I told him no, they just needed paint. His response was, "you gonna paint them?". Of course at the mention of paint, they girls wanted to see what I was doing too.
Well, parts just appeared, so back to the grind for me. Will try to stop in on my lunch break and see what's happening then

Mornin' everyone!

Zoe, I'll have the #2 this morning, over easy eggs, bacon, home fries, and a double order of the sour dough toast please.  Oh yes a pot of Seneca Lake Blend Dark Roast Organic Coffee is also needed!

Another neau8tiful day in the Finger lakes.  As Barry would say dull!  Dark gloomy, rainy and waiting for some possiobly worse weather to sliode in from gthe west.  Two counties to the west of where I am is currently under a severe Thunderstorm warning and...... a Tornado Warning!

"The National Weather Service in Buffalo has issued a severe thunderstorm and tornado warning for Wyoming County until 11:15 a.m.

There is also a severe thunderstorm warning for Southeastern Genesee County and southeastern Erie County until 11:30 a.m.

At 10:24 a.m., Doppler radar indicated a severe thunderstorm capable of producing damaging winds in excess of 60 miles per hour."

Ulrich, keep on keeping on with the PT.  It will help you.  I have several friends who had strokes and they all have gotten most of their abilities back.  They each attribute it to the help they got from PT.

Sky is getting very dark outside so I think I best get off the computer for a while....  Later!

MisterBeasley
Last week my weight was 199.  This week it's 209. . .  Yeah, I had a nice steak dinner last night, but I also put about 30 miles on my bicycle so I earned my meal. . .

I find that my weight jumps up a day after a longer ride. As near as I can tell it has to do with water retention. The body gets dehydrated on the ride and goes into "camel mode" retaining water after the ride just in case it happens again. It is not uncommon for me to see a 2-3 pound (I am starting from a lower base weight) jump the day after a ride only to settle back down a day to two later.

MisterBeasley
. . .I pulled over to the side of the road, but I couldn't get out of my clips fast enough and down I went, a low-speed fall reminiscent of Artie Johnson on Laugh-In. . .

Been there; done that. The first time was in my driveway with the neighbors watching.

I went out for a ride of sorts this morning. My grandkids are in town from Idaho and we rode to a parking lot to do laps. (The two that were with me are five and seven years old. The parking lot was the safe option for a ride.) The only incident was when my granddaughter got too close and stuck her pedal in my spokes. Luckily we weren't going too fast and I was able to recover in time. (Meaning I stayed upright.)

it's a cloudy morning today, mostly I think because of the hurricane around gulf of California and Mexico.

I believe now that my brother will be buying his car today (camero). Also I bought a new bed on Friday it will be here on the 16th. Since my dad is retired I can't talk much on the forum, but we'll see what happens.

Evening guys

a warm and stormy day here. I came out of work at break and it was just down pouring. My car cards and waybills should come sometime this week. I think that is my summer railroad project to fill out the waybills and cards on the days when it's just too hot out or when I'm at work. I did a little tonight.

tomorrow is the day of my root canal, it's at 1:00 and they said it will take about a hour and a half. I'm hoping I don't feel too sore to work on Wednesday. From what I gather it should be ok. I am heading to the irl race in Toronto on the weekend.

Evening all, just stopping in for a large hot fudge sundae. The wife and I double teamed dinner tonight, with me grilling pork chops and her making tater salad and Italian green beans. Now of course, I have to clean up (as I did less cooking than she). The kids are quietly watching Star Wars on the couch before bed. Well, I guess I'd better get a move on before hitting the bed.

Good Morning Diners,

Flo, I'll have a stupendously large coffee with exorbitant amounts of cream, please.

Ken: Love the pic of the Aero-train.  Definitely mid-century modern with just a touch of art-deco thrown in.  I didn't know any of these had survived.  Where was this picture taken?  I seem to remember that Varney made a model of this, but not sure.  Anyway, I know somebody did at one time.

Jeremy:  I hope you feel like posting later today, but I kinda doubt it!

Good morning.  Celebrating our 48th wedding anniversity today.  Last night we had a hard rain that tested the new gutters and drainage piping.  Everything worked as planned.  On to the next outdoor project, which is removing a set of poorly built steps and door from a back closed in porch.

Did a little track spiking during the first period of the hockey game last night.  Should be ready to fabricate the no. 4 frog assembly for the wye currently under construction.

UP831, the Aerotrain is located at the Museum of Transportation in St. Louis.  This museum is a must for steam era railfans.  It also has the Aerotrain and a Burllington Zypher, an other attempt at streamlining and modernity.

Mornin'....  Ah.....  Hmmmmm...  Guess it's lunchtime already.

Zoe, I'll have a reuben sandwitch with the usual trimmings, and a pot of Seneca Lake Blend Dark Roast please.

I was going to be in here much earlier, but about the time I was going to post the Thunderboomers started back up in earnest.  Droughts over!  We've had over an inch of rain in the last day and a half, with more coming down today.  I had hoped to see the contractor but so far he hasn't arrived.....  Would be really nice to get the living room finished.  He may yet show up today though.

Ah... Galaxy!  Are you all right?  If your BP is that low, I hope you are on your way to the Horse Piddle my friend.....  You sure don't sound good this morning!  Medication reaction?

I may disappear to the train room and start a couple buildings or cars kits I hacve...  Can't get to the area where I have been working due to the oak molding that is stuck there waitimng on the contractor to come.

Catch you all later!

Whistling

Morning All,

I slept in today as I don't start work til 12:45.

Cloe, I'll have a double Denver with country fries and brown gravy and a RC cola, Thanks.

James Moon and Better Half,  Congratulations on your anniversary, we'll have our 42nd this Nov.

Galaxy,  You are worring us again.  Like Ray said "Get thee to see Professional help".

Ray,  We could sure use a little of that rain.  It is extremely dry here and we have had water bans to boot.  Yesterday it looked like we would get a real boomer later in the day, but, it all blew over and just left the heat.  It got to 32c yesterday. Forecast for slightly cooler today. Hope the contractor shows up, its the S--ts waiting for those guys.

Rob, Where art though?  It's been a while since you checked in. I know there is lots of ranch work there, but your friends want to know you made it back inside each night and haven't become coyote fodder.

Ulrich,  Yeah, I know we are nosey,  but really just concerned. Please let us know what is happening just south of the Artic Circle..... OK?

WEll I had better go and have a s--t, shave and shower to get ready for work. Have to stay later today so won't get home till about 2030 Hrs.

On the LM&E front, I got the big round concrete pillars that will hold up the elevated station painted. I used a creme colored paint as a base and them put a stucco type rustoleum over that and it turned out fairly good. I think I will be satisfied with it when it get put in place. Other than that I'm making some road crossings over some tracks out of the back side of rolled roofing and that is turning out well too.

I wonder what Choo Choo Willie (Dennis) is up to these days. Sure been quiet from Stampede Country as of late.

Later Gators,  keep smiling ya all.

Good afternoon all. Just stopping in for a quick glass of sweet tea then it's back to checking out an air conditioning system in a ford.
Galaxy, please sir, get that blood pressure checked, that's a dangerous game to play.
Well I guess that's it for me, for now, gotta go get myself back to work.

Good Evening,

A pleasant day here in Winterpeg with sun and about 75F.

Johnboy, sorry to hear about the dryness out your way. It seems we have now escaped that as we are at our normal precip level for spring/ early summer. We got about an inch of rain on the weekend and another good shower last night. I would like to send some your way but then the prevailing wind would have to change direction.

Last night the first game of the womens Fifa world cup was held here. There were a lot of people in town from the US as it was the US .vs Australia. Even though we are only a mile from the new stadium we couldn't hear any noise at all. Sure better than the local club's football games.

Well I'm truly on a bit of a kit construction binge and have now started a Red Caboose 40' boxcar kit. It is CP kit but I'll use it on the layout anyway. When I bought it at the train show last fall I thought I had picked up 2 CN kits but turns out one was CP. At least it is one with the 'Spans the World' logo. Just of note, CP really did back in the day, as they had an airline and a steamship fleet including several passenger ships. Dad went over to England in '44 on the Empress of Canada which was a CP ship. They were all called 'Empress of'.

Jeremy, sorry to hear you had complications with the root canal. I've had 2 and both were time consuming but easy.

Well, time to do something, not sure what. I have been running a passenger train lately as June is a passenger train month on the Mortimer sub. I have also been running the N scale a little too just to see if it still works.

Evenin' folks!

Janie, just a cup of decaf for me right now, please.  Oh what the heck....  I'll have a medium sized Hot Butterscotch Sundae as well....

Johnboy, I would gladly send some the rain we have had over the past few days over your way.  We didn't need quite that much.  Got a few major downpours again today.  In fact we had a major gullywasher just as the contractor left this afternoon....

Oh, yeah, the contractor showed up today, very appologetic about not being here at all last week.  Ended up with some emergency work that had to get done before the rain ruined stuff.  He promised me he would be completely done with my jopb by the end of the week.  Today he started to install the Oak Trim I have been getting ready for him.  Got 3/4 of the big picture window done along with a couple other things.  Top board hasn't been installed yet....

I think it is going to look really classy!  I am also using oak electric outlet covers:

Jeremy, sorry top hear you had some complications with the root canal.  What happened?

Sure hope Galaxy is OK and has "Sobered Up" from what he sounded like this morning....  Keeping him in my prayers!  Still wondering about a medication reaction going on........

Catch you later!

 Evening Dinners

 Flo, Beer Please.

Work Front Well another boring and pretty much use less day. Only good news is I had a Good Paycheck! Yes If I had 4 of theses in a month I could afford my bills and could spend some money on my hobbies.

Day's off. Dave called the GM and said he would be at work Wednesday, we will see? Whistling I sure hope I feel good theses coming days off, there is so much I need to do. May break down and hire the kid on the other side of the block to help.

Getting Fitted For My New Diabetic Shoes Thrusday! Guess the visit to the VA Hospital last week paid off! My big toe is bleed under the callauis, it looks nasty. My current shoes are just worn out. While I am getting fitted I hope I can get the clinic Dr to look at it. The Dr's I saw at my CBAC did not really seem to know what they where looking at. Best part, it is not a VA ran clinis but a private one and the best part? It is 2 miles from my house and not a Jeffersons Barracks which is 50 miles round trip! Yes

UP 831 The trip to the St Louis Transportation Museum is well worth the drive. I wished I had not taken my wife with me, or I would have taken way more photos. I think I only saw 1/3 of what there was to see.

Good Morning!

Back from the daily PT and I am beat! Thought I drop by for a moment before I take a nap.

Progress is slow, hardly noticable. I guess I have to be more patient and don´t expect miracles to happen. Moving around the house has improved, though - with the help of a walker. That dang thing makes me look really old! Walking up and down the stairs is still a challenge.

Any news from our friend G.? I hope is doing OK!

CUL, folks!

Good Morning Diners,

Flo, might I have a super sized cup of coffee with the appropriate levels of cream, please.

Ken:  I'll have to try to work in a stop at that museum.  Looks like it's worth seeing.  Of course, the pic of the Big Boy doesn't hurt to persuade.

its been awhile since I've been there, but the LA County Fair Grounds at least used to have several very large locomotives.  They're kind of tucked back in a corner.  I don't know if they are still there or not, with the exception of their Big Boy, which was the one taken to be restored.

Speaking of, in a couple of posts ago, I had mentioned about the promotional value of restoring certain well loved steam locomotives.  The labor and expense of moving that Big Boy back onto active trackage had to have cost multiple hundreds of thousands of dollars.  They didn't do it out of altruism.

Ulrich: you keep hanging in there.  Who knows, you might be running in a marathon in a year or two.

Wink

Well, have to saddle up and go to work.

I hope everyone is OK and safe.

Less is more,...more or less!

Thanks for asking guys

he was able to clean out the roots of two of the three canals but couldn't locate the third canal to get the nerves out. So I'm still left with nerves in the tooth and that means I still have a toothache. I know have to see a specialist to see if they can find it. He was apologizing and was mad at himself for not being able to get it. He told me that he wasn't charging me a penny. I can't get into a specialist until July now. I was in the chair for two hours and went through 3 good shots of freezing. I took the day off, my tooth is sore and am quite tender. don't feeling like lifting 50 pound bags of stuff today. I can't believe all the headaches and toothaches over the last month and thought it was going to be over yesterday but it will continue.
