Hey all crazy busy week. Basket ball season for the kids closing down with big awards ceremony this weekend, we expect about a thousand +/- to attend and w**k is nuts with getting inspections and prepping two models for opening at the end of the month while the office is still making changes to the models !!! Bang Head Bang Head Bang Headits like trying to win a race with a mechanic turning wrenches under the hood in the car during the race .

I have been reading a lot of post but wanted to offer Angel to those in need and not feeling well.

Also there are a lot of post about leaky basements here. There is a relatively inexpensive solution for thise interested who have sump pumps in the basements.

There is a product we call "drain board" it comes in a roll about 4' tall and is applied directly to the exterior of the foundation from ground to footing. This direct water from the wall to the drain tile round the footing which should direct it to the sump pump.

I have actually seen a concrete wall with an 1/8" crack through the wall and this drain board applied to the exterior and the wall did not leak. Its relatively cheap to buy, the most expensive part is excavating around the house.

Extra strong coffee TO GO, please.

Going to prune all the fruit trees today. At least going to give it a shot. Should have already been done, just couldn't do it. Better late than not at all.

Healing thoughts for those in need.

Dang.  That beautiful weather we had the last couple of days was just a teaser.  We won't see 50 again until the last week of the month at the earliest.  Meanwhile, it will be 10 degrees tonight.  I just paid the plow bill, over a thousand.  Seems like he was here every other day for a while.  On the bright side, I never had any trouble getting in or out of my long sloping driveway.

My wife may be coming home the end of next week.  She's got both of her parents moved into their new home at the assisted living place.  After resisting all these years, they really like the place.  I've told her that now is the time to leave, before they become totally dependent on her to run errands and taxi them around.

Dennis, I know what you mean about having Air Force 1 come to town.  My town is home to Hanscom Air Force Base, which is where they land for those "official" visits to Boston which always coincide with fundraisers and campaign events.  They don't actually come into town, but they tie up the main street and that results in traffic jams.

OK, 32 and windy means it's time for indoor projects.  Back to tacking down some foam roadbed and mounting the circuit boards for the grade crossing detection circuits.

Afternoon folks!

Chloe, I'll have a nice hot mug of hot cocoa please.

It is all the way up to freezing right now in the Finger Lakes. Yep! 32°F outside, but with some nice bright sunshine.  The sn*w pack is gradually melting off which is much better than a couple days of all 3 foot of the stuff melting at once!  So far I have a bit of water oozing down cellar, but no large amount of water coming in yet.  I'm sure that will change when I am gone for the day on Saturday.  Saturday is the Museum Operating Rules Class.  Looking forward to working train crew again this summer.

As usual I've been busy so far today...  Before lunch I drove down to the post office to buy those little sticky thingies they used to send the mail places...  Needed to get 2 rolls of them for the Scholarship Dinner Invitations.  Then went over to the plaza and filled the tank on the PiP with Dossilized Dinosaur Dung because I have to drive my sister to the Rochester Airport first thing tomorrow and there wasn't nearly enough left in the tank to get there and back.  Must have been almost empty as it cost me a whopping $4.25 to fill the tank....  OK, OK...  I had a $1.90 discount per gallon from the grocery store to use up...  This afternoon after recharging the PiP, I went over to the carwash a couple blocks away to remove all the road salt and grime that has built up on it over the last couple months.  Done averaged 92 mpg on the last tank....

Went down to spend some time in the train rooms and found the heater wouldn't fire up....  Pilot light was out.  OK, that has happened before.  Usually from a big downdraft in the chimney...  I take the front cover off so I can get to the opening to see the pilot light and try to click start the pilot...  No dice!  I'm thinking the thermocouple probably is shot.  It's about that time.  Try a few more times, no luck.  Go upstairs and get the grill lighter thingie (butane lighter)  Reach around the heater so I can push down the pilot to light it and use the grill lighter.  Fires right up...  A couple seconds later I release the pilot and it keeps going.  Guess it is OK for now...???

Catch you all later!

You should try living close to DC. Those rascals when they come through with their group of train of cars they break just about every traffic law there is. Very aggresive and you better not get in the way ! And it just not the chief thief its his minions too that pull that stunt. I tell you all goverement officials should be made to obey teh laws just like regular people.

Good Evening Diners,

Flo, I'll have Earl Grey tea with cream and honey, please.

Not much to report today.  Getting into the groove at the job.  It's kinda fun.

I had mentioned in a post in January that I'm involved in advocacy for interior design licensing.  Well, one of the trade organizations who oppose it put out "legislative alert" saying a bunch of things about it that are just simply not true.  I am also a member of this same organization and I know these people.  We have issued an official response to them, so we'll see what their response is.

Dennis and YGW:  back when I lived in LA, one evening I was driving along, minding my own business when up from behind several motorcycle cops with lights flashing came barreling down the road.  I pulled over as soon as I could and these guys went storming by escorting several big black limos.  Almost scared the day lights out of me.  I found out later it was the motorcade for a Soviet ambassador on his way to LAX.

A few months ago Bowser made an announcement that they were scrapping all of the old Penn Line dies.  I suppose those dies were pretty old and tired and perhaps the demand for those kits has gone down, but those were some great kits for good locomotives.  Kind of a shame that the locos aren't going to be available anymore.  As near as I know, Bowser did not say they were going to re tool and release new versions of the locos.

I hope everyone is OK, safe, and warm.

Less is more,...more or less!

 Evening Dinners

Flo, JSTL and a Beer Please.

Work Front Guess it is time to start updating my resume. Sigh I really hate to do it, but the I just saw the meno that will break my $ back. We have a set of BEMCO Gel Foam Mattress that sell well and have a high spiff. (Spiff is extra money for the sales person) Problem is we have other Gel Foam Mattress that cost more, but have 1/2 the spiff. You see the problem? I saw it coming sometime back. Why try to sale a $1800.00 mattress and make $75.00 when you can sale a $1100.00 mattress and make $150.00? Whistling They are going to stop selling the BEMCO Mattress so we have the sale the higher price mattress, don't think that is going to go well with the other sale people either.

With me now making house payments again, the cut hours and getting rid of the best paying mattress line we have, I see no reason to stay there. With all the extra medical bills from my wife, car repairs, Vet bills from Sparkie The Rocket Dog and the cut hours I am down to $2600 in savings. When BOS (bank of stupid ) modafied my house loan 8 months ago (It only took 3 years) I had $5600 in back up funds.

Galaxy Hand are feeling much better tonight for some reason. Thanks for caring.

 Latter, Ken

They sold the dies for scrap, so, as far as I know, there won't be any more Bowser steam kits. If I remember right, a lot of it had to do with fewer people wanting to bother building the kits, but some of it had to do with newer EPA regs that severely limited the amount of metal casting that they could do in the US.

Italian roast coffee in a APACHE RAILWAY mug, please.

One of those raw days here with cold blowing rain. Regardless, going to finish pruning the remaining fruit trees. Next day there is little wind, I'll need to screw down a couple tin sections on one of the barns. It's flapping/banging away out there today.

Waiting to see if Trainworld will have a St. Patricks Day sale.Whistling

Have a great day!

Good Afternoon!

Our weather is back to normal, i.e. drab, overcast days with an odd spell of ra*n. Nothing to feel comfortable!

It shouldn´t be more than a week until I get my new beepers - will I be happy when I finally have them. I have turned into a grumpy old man, taxing Petra´s patience quite a lot. I am glad when that is over and I can enjoy life again!

Healing thoughts for all with health issues and blessings to all!

Howdy folks!

It appears to be lunch time around here, so Chloe, I'll have a Reuben Sandwitch, french Fries, a large dill pickle slice, and a cup of decaf.  Please and Thank You Ma'am!

I managed to get my sister to the airport with plenty of time to make her flight.  She was in a foul mood (not a bit unusual for her).  Seems she called the hotel where she instsits that the family has our Easter Dinner Buffet yesterday and the only times still left were mid morning (My family will be in church) and 2 PM in the afternoon.  My DIL informed my sister that won't work as her Mother will be hosting Easter Dinner around 3 pm....  My sister is livid as this is a TRADITION!  One that my Son and DIL have been trying to do away with for several years...  My sister is absolutely convinced that my Son's Aunt is far more important than his MIL!!!  I tried to inform my sister that she is not thee matriarck of my son's family these days....  I finally did mange to change the subject to some other goings on that my sister could care less about...

Ken, it sounds like it would be a good idea to get your resumé ready.  One suggestion for you.  Once you get it roughly in place, please have a couple other people check it for spelling and grammer.  Having those items done done well is seen by prospective employers as showing you are knowledgeable and care about making a good impression.  I know of several excellent workers who missed out on employment possibilities simply because the employer took one look at the resume and deep sixed it.  I think we all have an impression of you as a hard and loyal worker.  Put your best foot forward in this!  You don't get a second chance to make a first impression!

Currently 34°F outside and supposed to make it up to 45 or 48°F this afternoon depending where on the Weather Channel site you read....  Sun is peeking out for the most part so it should be another decent day for producing electric.  They produced 23.5 kWh yesterday.  A record for this year!  Today should be around 20 kWh again.  Nice to have them back up and running.

Have a whole stack of other stuff to get done today...  Catch you all later!

We have a 3-season porch outside our living room, on the south side of the house.  It's well insulated and has windows all around.  There's no built-in heating system, because we have forced hot water and if I ran baseboard out there I'd have to heat it all winter.

The last few days, despite the still-cold temperatures in the 30s, the abundant sunshine really warms that porch up.  So, I've been opening up the doors to the living room, turning on the ceiling fans and letting the warm air circulate and heat the house.

It's time to say goodbye to my car.  It's the VW Jetta I got when my Saturn reached the point where it was going to cost a thousand dollars just to get it to pass inspection.  Anyway, I think it's a 2012.  Our daughter is driving a 1999 Corolla we got her when she got her license.  She needs a car to get to work, and I don't even need to get to work at all, so we're going to swap.  Like me, the Corolla is reaching the age where it needs a warm place to sleep at night.  It's still a fine car and we've kept it maintained, so I'm looking forward to many years driving my "retirement car."

boy!

my left arm is sore/tired from doing all the work of both arms, but my right one today is pestering me severely and pain meds not helping much. I also thinks some staples are coming loose.

The DR. said :he will use it a little, every body does; so I don't think its been out of line, just maybe a bit too much for it?

I see him on the 17th, St Paddy's day. SInce I am IRish, my day, but i will share with non-irish, when Irish eyes are smiling...

Well, Sunday will be my next foray into the shower. I was fine until today then I started sweating again with the warm temps, this old tin can I live in heats up like  a can of beans on a hot camp fire in the baking of the sun on it. The furnace hasn't run since this morning adn is set on 61F, it is 68f in here now, naturally just like Mr. B says. Enough to make me sweat, but nto uyet turn on teh A/C.

KEN: do let some or all of us or someone you trust go over your resume! Like Ray says, can't be too careful! We have done MOH's over and over, only to print it off and the next day to see an error! we want you to succeed, even if only an extra part time job.

Mr.B is so good to his daughter, trading cars like clothes with her {well, I HOPE he doesn't do that...}. I sure hope she appreciates him!

Bad....  Bad Galaxy

Janie, I'll have the 12 oz. T-bone steak, medium rare, a baked potato, with a trip to the salad bar this evening....  Will also need decaf coffee in my R&GV RR Mug.  I'll order dessert later...

I was looking out the window in my kitchen at lunch today as I was finishing up a crossword puzzle and what should I see. Four.... Yes four robins eating the dropped berries from last fall beneath my flowering quince tree.  A bit chilly out there, but sunny and a pleasent day anyway.  The latest reading from the solar says they have produced 20.5 kWh so far today so it will probably end up being around 21 kWh.  Nice to have them running again.

Sn*w is disappearing but still has a way to go before we can see all the brown of dead last year's grass on the lawns...  Pretty much gone from the rooftops though.  I just ran the Sn*wblower for what I hope will be the last time this season...  Cleaned off a pile of the white crap from the front deck.

Catch you all later!

Did someone say PIE i'll have an large slice of apple w/ two scoops of vanilla ice cream Dinner. not been in much but have been looking in. if my plans work out looks like i'll be starting benchwork this spring. the room size is roughly 13'x13' with a 2-3 foot extension along one wall. The yard will be on a lower level while the upper lvl. is at 48" not enough room to connect them the layout is only 21" wide. I plan on point to point running right now but would love a track for cont. running just not shure how to work that in because of where the closet and door are located.I just need to find me some two foot wide white or light brown paper in a roll so I can start planning my track placement.

P.S. for those of you out there that play guitar(spelling) I saw a young lady(15y.o.) that can put some poeple with twice her years at playing to shame if you want to check her out go to you tube and look for Tina S.(sorry if this goes against diner policy) Idon't know enough to tell if she's faking or not never been able to play or read music.
